Part 3: Into the Citadel

With the 5 bolts of magical power surging forward, the demon is disrupted and looks up to the ceiling screaming like a banshee as the hellfire within him began leaking out and burning the last traces of shadow that formed the demon.


Epicette, Daveed, Malorix, and Cernandlon are up.

Epicette flies over the melee combat, telling Eclair to come out and ready himself while she redirects the invisible force at her fingertips to grasp the succubus again.

(Standard): Telekinesis on succubus (J) to grapple 17+17=34; CMD27 to escape
(Move): fly over the melee to BS45

as she comes into range, Eclair lets loose his skunk fumes a second time, but this time the aim goes wide and a poor wall block receives a choking dose (nat1 attack).

Epi then flies north to take some cover.

With the death of the shadow demon, and the succubus seemingly once more immobilized, Daveed approaches the tiefling mage.

"The 'Sword' is ours and your commanders are defeated. Surrender!" He commanded, sternly.

Cernandlon finally moves into the room and perpetuates the defeating of the commanders by attacking the grappled succubus.

(Swift Action: N/A, used it for an immediate action to boost attack in previous round)

(CONDITIONAL: If Malorix's attack drops the succubus, Cernandlon instead readies an attack against the Tiefling if they don't surrender. That attack will use a blunt arrow instead (-4 to attack))

Malorix thinks that's a good idea as well. Hopefully he'll be able to hit something that actually has a body. Hopefully. (Full attack on the succubus, aided by mythic haste: 12+12=24, nat 1, 9+7=16; damage 1: 6+3=9; damage 3: 8+3=11, on the off chance it actually connects.)

Malorix's first blow fells the succubus as Cernandlon readies his bow.

Daveed notes full terror in the tieflings eyes as she begins to cast a spell that fizzles as soon as Cernandlon's arrow strikes her chest causing her to cough and try to regain her breath. Those of you with spellcraft modifiers are able to identify the spell she was attempting as Dimension Door. *cough* *cough* "ok ok," *cough* "I surrender." she wheezes as she puts her hands over her head while sitting upright.

The defeat of Staunton and Eustoyriax both count as Mythic Trials, advancing you to Mythic Tier 3, raising your current and maximum MP by 2, and granting you appropriate bonuses (apply them now, note that MP expended today is still expended).

Time for XP update!

killing everyone you killed, and disabling the telekinesis traps:
13800 each (rounding up ~25xp each because you were so damn effective)
3200 story xp for removing Abyssal Infusion from the Corruption forge
1600 story xp for disabling the Death Trap by the fake banner
400 bonus XP for keeping both Joran and Staunton alive.

Epicette keeps her Telekinesis readied (to grapple, if they try to move/cast) while someone goes to do the actual capturing of said tiefling.

"Think we should deliver these back to camp first or do we hand them over to Irabeth and clean the rest of the castle out? Might still be some powerful commanders hanging about."

"I think we should finish clearing out the castle first, there's no sense in exposing the troops to dangerous threats like that shadow demon."

Cernandlon has another blunt arrow drawn and trained on the tiefling until someone ties it up.

(Don't look at me, my rope was used to tie up Joran)

Daveed handed the "Sword of Valor" off to Epi, while proceeding to use his own rope to bind both Staunton and the tiefling mage (he has 60ft of hemp rope, man). After finishing, he also removed the mage's spellbook from her person, if she has it.

"Epi, put her to sleep, if you will," he said, taking the 'Sword back.

"I must agree with Cernandlon. Though let us make haste, as the banner needs to be mounted atop the citadel for it's full powers to take effect."

Epicette Slumber Hexes the tiefling, seeing if her Protection spell wore off. If not, she'll tell Daveed that the tiefling needs to be knocked out the old fashioned way; even if the tielfling does succumb, she'll only be asleep for less than a minute.

Her protrection still seems to have had a minute or so left on her, and the hex sadly fails.

"No matter," Daveed sighed. "Let's clear out the rest of the dungeon and get topside. Move!"

Bewildered that Daveed just walked out leaving the tiefling like that, Epicette whispers to Cernandlon to "stick a blunt arrow in her, make sure she's out cold while we finish the citadel."

But just in case, she also strips both the prisoners of their gear.
