Battle of Trelling

Three arrows from the NW and seven from the NE were fired straight at Kati and Derovarr... and every one was dodged or deflected.

the three pegasi cavaliers sweep in for the first attack run, but their heavy lances were easily evaded by both. The attack also seemed to knock Coric out of his daze.

the three dispatcher captains attacked from the south (and provoke AoO when going thru Kati/Derovarr's threat area), and once again their efforts were parried off.

five of the crusaders from the north charges straight into them (while the rest slowed down from their attack, looking confused)... only one managed to score a clean hit upon Kati (11dmg, fire dmg resisted).

Inquisitor 1 & 3 continues to shout at the troops, while 2 was busy casting a spell with no noticeable effects...

Coric was shouting at the pegasi cavaliers with no avail, and resorted to using gestures instead, telling them to break off...

Inquisitor1 was still shouting over the telecomm, trying to talk over the shouting of every other officer on it "ARREST THEM I SAY ARREST THEM! ROWEN! ENGAGE YOUR FORCES!" ... the reply was either lost in the noise or never sent. Nevertheless, no squad made their entry into the keep via teleportation.

"Copy that sire, getting crew to positions for takeoff." Shift sent back.

and at that moment, a linear blast of holy fire came from the skies above, from a empty space 200 some foot above the teleportation area. The spell went straight into the lead Inquisitor (#1) and he simply combusted into flames. Seconds later, the fire takes a life of its own and started igniting the grounds in front of the reforming second crusader squad, trying to intimidate them to back off (and being a medium elemental, not doing a very good job at it).
a second line of energy came as fast as the first, the one a sickly green color and struck the Inquisitor on the battlements (#3), who looked very sick for a moment afterwards and emptied his stomach over the walls.

Derovarr and Kati didn't need to be told to notice the traits of an Eldritch Spear...
the Archeron sentries mages however, was trying to sort thru all this chaos and wondering if they should fire at the empty location above from which the spells came from...

Calling upon his skill of tactics, Derovarr ensured that he would be acting in quicker sequence than the others in the room. ((MoA))

Message to Jens via Command Ring: "Important! Myself and Lady Gant under attack at teleportation keep. Buff up, cloak (go invisible), and come within blast range. Do not. Repeat. Do not open fire unless I give a signal. Over!"

A sick feeling erupts in Jens' stomach upon hearing this. *She's there... bastards!* he thinks.

"Roger that, on my way."

Buffs: Daily, plus Arcane Spellsurge and Superior Invisibility. Using legacy ability to fly ~300 ft up, too.

Also, Spot check 24 (roll 17) to see if I myself am in any immediate danger.

Kati surges a dispel through the silence in an attempt to take it down.

the silence field goes down (on first attempt), the two radiant assault went sent into the air by Ulrich... soon joined by around dozen more fireballs and scintillating spheres from Archeronian mages around the area. They couldn't see the caster, only able to fire blindly into the area for which the offending spell originated. Two dispels also went up, but to no avail...

four more arrows were fired at the two, and not a single hit. Several of them missed quite significantly, the skirmishers seems distracted...

the three pegasi cavaliers simply began circling the area.

the three dispatchers streams power into their blades, giving it a golden hue of divine energy (Divine Surge), before attacking again (Kati takes 1 hit = 52dmg, Derovarr takes 1 hit = 72dmg).

the five crusaders who engaged looks even more confused without the lead Inquisitor barking orders and with spells firing off into the skies. Noticing Derovarr and kati not fighting back, two of them back off, while the other three swung half-heartedly and missed.

the second crusader squad, battered by the explosive spell, killed the fire element and continued forward, advancing on Kati thru the confused first squad.

the second inquisitor then charges thru gaps between the crusaders, grabs hold of Kati's right, grapples onto her (succeeds grapple), pins her down towards the ground (succeeds pin), quickdraws a pair of manacles and slaps it onto her back (kati just got bound).
"Marshal... you're under arrest." he says, slightly breathless.

Coric raises his hand into the air, ready to start firing his conjured arrows at first sign of the enemy.

And from about 80ft above, two more sickly green beams of eldritch energy hurled down in quick succession. The first struck the lead Dispatcher before bouncing to the other two dispatchers, the inquisitor by Kati, and Ulrich... the lead dispatcher simply burst into flames, his armor and weapon falling onto the ground while his body was transformed into a fire elemental. The other four hit suddenly began looking very sick and about to vomit at any moment (Ulrich takes 99dmg & nauseate for 1min).

the second found its way into the NE battlements, where it bounces between five Archeronian mages, who looked only lightly injured but instantly decided they were in no shape to continue casting either...

the arrow Coric fired never hit anything.

Derovarr took the hit, but continued with his defense, unwilling to attack his Mislanian brothers and sisters. Instead, he called upon his divine reserves ((Swift Action action to activate Protection Devotion)), and set his halberd ready to deflect any incoming attacks, watching the 'Justicar' in particular.

Message to Ulrich via command ring: "Ulrich, are you still functional? I didn't call in this strange attacker. Get ahold of your troops, before anyone else is harmed!"

What the hell? Jens thinks. Somebody's attacking them? What, are they trying to set us up?

"Uh... affirmative sir. I'm coming as fast as I can, but I'm a ways off. This might take a moment." (i.e. a couples rounds. I'm 5000 feet out, you recall, and go 600 on a double move)

He moves as far as he can towards the teleportation area where all this madness is happening.

Osmund casts Cure Light Wounds Mass for 95HP on EVERYONE within range. This includes, but is not limited to: Ulrich, Kati, Derrovar, the Inquisitors, the troops.

DM Editing: And a dispel shoots down from above and counters the spell...

Osmund then reacts with a close wounds on Ulrich for HP.

Message to Derovarr via ring: "I still can't tell if that is Kovis or not."

Kara casts cure critical wounds on Kati healing 52 damage as Kati tries to break the chain holding the shackles together, wondering if it was Kovis or a Norinth Warlock hovering above them.

Kati struggles with the manacles but to no avail...

Dmitri was in north city, inspecting the new troops for which he has just taken command of. Messages of Misalinians having some kind of fight with each other have been flooding in for a minute now... but then all of a sudden the messages change to that teleportation area was attacked by some invisible foe, who seems to be a warlock given the spell effects. Yet he was focusing on killing the Misalinian inquisitors, and merely sending other troops off the field with a lurching stomach.

at this time, the skirmishers have stopped firing down, and were too busy readying their arrows against the sky, firing towards the origin anytime a spell is hurled out.

the Inquisitor-Justiciar tries to walk away in his sickened condition, managing only a few steps before emptying his stomach.

most of the first crusader squad has by this time, disengaged, or stepping back, looking fearfully into the sky and the invisible mage. A few manages to step forward and kill the fire elemental before it could starting spewing flames...

the leader of the second squad just manages to step through, he moves up to Kati and slams the flat side of his blade against her head (Kati takes 44dmg). Kati barely manages to stay conscious (AP-boost), her eyes watering and vision blurring due to intense pain.

and just moments later, the squad leader was hit by another green bolt of magic, which then bounces thru the other forward members of his squad. A second bolt struck an Archeronian mages flying up in the air and bounces into the NW battlements, sending another half-squad out of the fight. A second later, the southern battlements became engulfed in a large field of magical darkness.

Three Archeronian mages flew in from the east, the first of the reinforcements, and threw their dispels into the air. They closed in upon the target at doubletime, determined to get within truesight range.

(the air was starting to smell quite a bit from an excess of vomiting in the area)

That arrows fired at the airborne target either had no luck, or the ones that hit were too few to be noticed.
