Actually, that was a really disapointing battle. Don't get me wrong, it was a clever idea on 'ol lich boy's part, but the planning was terible. Really, a room full of mid-high level paladins and clerics, and NO-ONE has a dispel?

paladins don't bother with dispels since their CL sucks but... i guess all the clerics who had it failed their saves? it's kinda hard to notice a symbol of insanity before its too late. Most of them also probably didn't recognize the source of the problem.
wail of the banshee would have been grander, simply cause I wanted to see a wave of ppl collapse xD, but I guess this was quite clever.
I think if the paladins who made the initial save focused on Xylon, they might actually have stood a chance... but no they had to get distracted elsewhere before finishing the more obvious task.
mass conviction + recitation + mass resurgence would also have dealt with the problem... I think the Sapphire guard is full of incompetence clerics who don't know how to boost their allies properly xD
