Fires of Creation, Part III

Another skeleton returns to the dust. The other briefly has that eerie green light flash in its eye sockets, before returning to normal.

Niles knocks an arrow, and fires at the remaining skeleton, but probably doesn't hit anything.

Enlali steps around Niles and Manizei to face one of the spoopy skellingtons (S1) and jabs forward with her bardiche.

(Attack 1d20+5= 24 Damage 1d10+4=6)

The one downside to a musket is, Manizei would privately admit, the time it takes to reload it. Stepping back, she begins tending to that.

Enlali successfully dusts the remaining skelton... only for four more to emerge. One of them (S7 on the map) gets the spooky green eyelights again, and this time they don't go away.

(That's their turn, so carry on.)

Backing away from S3 and taking a step toward S7, Enlali says, "While I'm impressed with how many friends you have, I can't say I'm having fun at this party." Extemely pleased with what she considers to be a banging joke, Enlali slashes down at S7.

Harskgun charges at S4, seeking to end the creature with his dagger.

(Damage: 1d6+1 = 2 slashing damage)

"We'll have to work on your humor." Niles quips at he sends an arrow towards S5.

(Ranged attack: 1d20+3= 16; 1d6=5)

(DM EDIT: Enlali got that one. Feel free to pick a new target.)

"Perhaps we should withdraw," Manizei suggests, firing her musket at the nearest unengaged skeleton. "If they keep coming like this ... it's not likely to be pleasant."

((Attack: 1d20+6= 17. Damage: 1d12 = 10. Aiming at S6))

(Drew has informed me he's redirecting to S5, so yeah.)

All the skeletons except S4 return to the sands. S4 gets the eyelights now, and a faint whispering laugh can be heard. It flexes its bony hands, and lashes out at Harskgun with four claw attacks. One even connects! (take 2 damage.)

...And after that I'm going to assume that someone will wind up beating its 16 AC and take away its remaining two hit points, so in the interest of time, we'll skip ahead to that. 280 XP each.

After the seventh skeleton crumbles, no more arrive. The desert within the hill is silent and still once more. Said desert is vast, but the trail blazed by the previous expeditions is quite clear with no wind to disturb it.

"I wonder how long those creatures have been in here." Niles ponders aloud.

"Is anyone injured?"

[Sajuuk]

"Just a minor flesh wound," Harskgun gruffly replies as he re-sheaths Foe-Stabber. "Any idea what those things...originally...were?"

"No clue," Enalai says putting away her weapon. " I'm more worried about what they were post-de-skinning. Can't say I've ever seen a skeleton with green eyes." After pondering for a moment, she turns toward Niles and adds, "And you have to admit that joke was at least a little funny."

"While the legal proclivities of Numeria may still tend towards authoritarianism, I am as yet unaware of any code or law that would require to me admit any such thing." Niles responded, blankly.

"Since we seem to good spirits and solid fortitude, and with no further need to fear the expiration of our water breathing enchantments, I posit that we should forge ahead."

"I'm just glad they stopped coming," Manizei comments, loading her musket once more. "But yes, let's be off, and hope we find no more of those ... whatever those were."
