As far as you know, there are no allied mission in this town, including your new rebel allies. They certainly don't have any cannons with them, so you don't really know whom that is down there. The most likely answer would be an Oda scouting group though...

Shigeru soon returns to consciousness...

Sugire: "I'm pretty much magically exhausted at this point, so count me out of this fight... and I'm not sure where Rainer went off to."

Yumi: "He's about 500ft to the NW--- I can barely see him, and he hasn't responded to anything for a while now."

Apart from Shigeru almost dying, Terasaka also notices that Yuuta is pretty badly injured as well right now.

Rainer is still shaken, and as such orders rosebud to ascend another 100-150ft. and prepares to craft a turret (Repair and Turret ready in device) should anything start attacking him and his construct.

(Sorry for the delays - spent all weekend in Maine for New Years and yesterday traveling. Still not fully recovered from the lack of sleep, but I'll take a stab at a post.)

Rainer proceeds past the border of the town and towards its outskirts, back to the woods to the northeast where the group should be reconverging at after the mission...

Yuuta descends some altitude and moves closer to the action at the edge of town. It was dark and he was having much trouble seeing, but as he comes within 200ft of the skirmish, he notices that the cannon sounds and flares were coming not from any bombard artillery, but hand-cannons of some sorts being wielded by two teams, who alternatively exchanged positions between firing and withdrawing. He couldn't really discern which group they belonged under since none of the soldiers wore any banners... Meanwhile, a lightly armed group of scouts rushed to join them from within the town, while two dozen Tokugawa infantry chased after them. There were more pursuers, but they either laid dead on the streets or were routing back towards the castle, and it seems even those who kept up were wavering under the cannon fire...

Yuuta reports what he sees over the command rings, hoping someone else can make more sense of who they are.

As much as Shigeru wants to get his hands on one of the hand-cannons, he still thinks its a bad idea due to low extract reserves.

Given that Rainer flew off with their heavy support, Terasaka agrees that moving on would be best. He makes a mental note to have the ninjas check out the town and see if they could find out what happened once they have time.

The group will then return to the rebel camp.

The group leaves the castle town from the northeast, met back up with Rainer where they first began the mission (still deaf at the moment), and later returned to the rebel stronghold several hours later without any problems. The resistance, at least, those who were awake, cheerfully greeting the group over their success, although none of them really recognized any of the three machines that Rainer brought back...
( I posted stats on the Hwacha in the custom equipment; you also snatched one salvo of ammunition for it... there was another one on the cart before but at some point it fell off... )

Resistance scouts reported that last night, the Oda did mount a raid of the Okazaki castle town. They originally only stayed outside to avoid attention, but after noticing that the commotion inside the castle drew most of the outer patrols' attention, they went into the town aggressively to test both its defenses and to get a better view of the castle's preparedness--- seems like they took advantage of your raid. The scouting group seems to have been a combination of local Oda troops and foreign soldiers from both Leazus and Custom.
( Shigeru realizes that those guns you heard from probably the Custom forces' Tulip cannons ).

Two more skirmishes between the Oda and Tokugawa forces also broke out within the castle's surrounding regions. Despite being ambushes, the Tokugawa forces were badly mauled each time and pretty much all of their forces have been pushed back to the castle town itself... there's a good chance the Oda will lay siege to it within another few days, except...

A sizable Takeda army has apparently entered the area. It's unknown who the commander is yet, but a nearby village who saw them claim (probably somewhat exaggeratedly) that thousands of cavalry poured over the border regions... a major battle will likely commence soon and unless you plan to hire yourselves out as mercenaries, it's probably best to stay clear of it.


In the meantime, since everyone has been all business since arriving and not much of a proper introduction, Izayoi Genichirou invited the group to come have dinner to his rowdy band tonight, technically held in their dining hall / tavern (but more likely just over the entire encampment), both as a welcome feast of sorts and as congratulations.
