Asahi Jidai, 9/29/2141, Front Page:
Just 42 hours after the first shots were fired over the outer perimeter defenses of the city, the last units of organized resistance falls within the Bisha Capital City of Tenmen. A city known as the 'Bastion of the North', Tenmen has long been known as a most formidable fortress guarding the entrance to the Frostspark Peninsula. Its strategic position in controlling trade between the Frostspark Peninsula and the rest of the Yamato Continent has attracted numerous attackers over the ages. Yet its walls have never been breached militarily, even during the Unification Wars, until today.

The city was heavily guarded by two permanent defensive rings grounded by eight powerful fortresses, plus an additional three layers of temporary fortifications recently dug in the outer perimeter. These five layers of defenses, in addition to bastions erected within the city from its buildings and the Sky Fortress floating one mile above the city, was garrisoned by nearly 40,000 professional troops of the Bisha and Sanada, and again that number in militia and drafted reserve units. The alliance force also held an air fleet of 10 Sky Cruisers for aerial support. The defense was commanded by the joint efforts of Warlord Ryouta Sanada, General Yasuda [Sanada], General Iwase [Sanada], and Colonel Hiromoto [Bisha].

The attacking force consisted of the Jinnan 3rd Powered Armor Corps, a battle-hardened elite force consisting of less than 40,000 troops, supported by 9 Sky Cruisers, and commanded by the Jinnan's Legate of the Left - General Heita Fukuoka.

The battle initiated in the early morning hours of 5/27 when the Jinnan 5th Powered Armor Division began their attack on the Northern and Northwestern Fortresses of Tenmen, while Heita's remaining units sought to encircle the city and reach towards the SW. After penetrating the hastily erected outer perimeter defenses, the ground attack was soon bogged down by Tenmen's formidable inner ring fortifications. A ship battle between the two fleets proved inconclusive and forced both sides to withdraw in order to preserve their air power, and the other Jinnan units, after encircling the city, attacked from the West and South, but achieved equally minimalistic gains against Tenmen's defensive rings. The deadlock in the front lasted nearly a whole day, as the Bisha and Sanada repelled countless Jinnan assaults, inflicting heavily casualties and leaving their enemies exhausted.

But on the early twilight hours of 5/28, Jinnan reinforcements arrived in the form of the Blacklight Cadre commando unit led by Nanaka Tenhi. Under the cover of darkness while the Bisha and Sanada troops were still resting from ferocious fighting of the day prior, the Jinnan commandos stormed the Tenmen Fortresses in separate detachments, which was swiftly followed by shocktrooper assaults from Heita's troops at first light. Four fortresses and their supporting bastions of the western flank were thrown into confusion by the commando raid and fell against the assault. The Jinnan forces then kept a slow but steady momentum and pushed into the city, shattering resistance forces and crushing defensive positions one by one. Even the Sky Fortress and the Bisha-Sanada Fleet eventually fell against the Jinnan attackers who secured ground-superiority and raised their anti-air weapons to catch the defenders in the cross-fire.

Warlord Ryouta Sanada is reported to have perished with the Sky Fortress. General Iwase was killed by Nanaka Tenhi in the Western Fortress. Colonel Hiromoto is said to have been killed by Heita Fukuoka in the city, but the pieces left remaining makes a quick identification impossible. General Yasuda escaped with an estimated twelve hundred troops from the encirclement before Heita's primary force could refocus their attention to finish off the eastern defenders.

The eleven year old Princess Yume, the only remaining member of the Bisha ruling family, is reported to have entered the battle with her personal guard in order to rally the defenders when Heita's vanguard breached the perimeter of the old city walls. The Jinnan confirms this report but refused to comment on what happened to the young girl, who most likely fell as a casualty of the battle, based on reports from soldiers in the vicinity.

The fall of Tenmen marks not only the end of the Bisha clan but also the destruction of Sanada's military strength. The Sanada lost not only their leader, but also all of their capital ships, the bulk of their army, and most of their officer corps in the fighting.

While a decisive victory for the Jinnan, the heavy casualties taken by Heita's 3rd Corps will likely keep it out of battle in the foreseeable future, while the Lord of Jinnan will also be occupied digesting his wins. However, it is unlikely that the Sanada could recover enough strength to mount any useful resistance before then, and they will either be forced to surrender and fall quickly to the Jinnan as their next conquest.

Starlight Dawn, 9/29/09, Politics Section:
In a meeting of the Imperial Senate this afternoon, Chancellor of the Right Vance Noel officially denounced the invasion of Chroma. In his speech, Chancellor Noel described the war as "outrageously militant" and "portraying the Imperium to the universe at large as a facist aggressors of war". He also claims that the Imperium Legion is "jeopardizing its responsibilities... (by) spreading itself thin when the threat of the Sacred Kingdom still looms and three-sevenths of Penthiae remains unstable."
It has been three days since Emperor Reginberaht Celkosen shocked the realm by announcing the Imperium Legion's ongoing operation to 'reunify' the planet of Chroma. The Emperor explained that the plans were kept top-secret until the operation was well underway in order to guarantee military secrecy, as it is likely that the Chromians may have some method of acquiring Imperial information three decades after initial contact. The Imperial Senate was briefly thrown into confusion by the sudden announcement. Since then, its members have been engaged in bitter debate over the Emperor's foreign policy - some supports the decision and believe that equality should have been brought to Chroma years ago, while others denounce it for its militarism. Either way, many Senators are discontent over the fact that the Emperor did not seek Senatorial approval before establishing upon the course of action with the military leaders.
However, for the first time in twenty years, an official denounciation given before the Imperial Senate was provided the backing of multiple political parties. Tatiana Semyonov, Chancellor of the Fore, declares earlier today that "Chancellor Noel has the full support of the Republican Party and the Independence Party. The Emperor has gone too far this time in ignoring the will of the people."
Unfortunately for both the Republican Party and the Independence Party, any chance of claiming the Emperor's move as unconstitutional vanished three days ago, as Knight-Grand-Cross Clotaire Staufen sanctioned the campaign the moment after Emperor Celkosen's announcement. High-Priest Ulrich Helge of the Church of Misalin also puts forth his support for the war, declaring that Chroma is "a disgrace against the honor of humanoids civilizations" and their behavior "must be corrected." However, High-Priest Helge also warns that the campaign "must be founded upon the diplomacy of man, not the diamondsteel of machines."
The Labor Party has issued no official standing on the matter. However, unofficial comments leads to the belief that the party may lean towards the Emperor's decision once the shock fully wears off. Chancellor of the Left Gareth Evans even praised the commanders late yesterday for a successful beginning after the 2nd Princess Liliane Celkosen took the Chromian orbit without a single Imperial personnel casualty. However, whether the left-wing senators can accept the Emperor's bypass remains to be seen.
The Economic Council fears that Emperor Celkosen will push for temporary measures that increases control of resource suppliers in order to power the Legion's military munitions industry, as was done during the Imperial Penthiae and Naralan Campaigns.

With the crusade against the Imperium officially declared, allied states are scrambling to mobilize in order to dispatch their battle units into the front lines. The Ginjou is no exception. But for these merchants, going to war also requires more than just an order to leave stand-down mode. It means leaving their current goods in trustworthy hands and reconfiguring their vessels with additional weapons, armor, electronic-warfare, and ammunition modules. To do all of this, they need additional funding, and much of it subsidized by the government.
While the merchants are making quick modifications to their vessels, the state is working on raising the money to balance out their subsidy expenditures. One of their first is apparently to host a Holdem tournament in the capital city of Ginjou. The tournament will begin tomorrow, but new contestents are welcomed to signup and join until the beginning of the semifinals. To make things more interesting, the Ginjou has prepared a special grand prize for the winner - a recently rediscovered enchanted map which claims to holds the hidden residence of Zhangsun Sheng, a powerful martial artist who lived and died three centuries ago in today's Linghu state whom was renowned as 'West Poison' for his cruelty and excessive use of powerful poisons in eliminating rivals and foes.

Asahi Jidai, 9/30/2141, Nightly News Headlines
Over the course of last night and this morning, the invasion forces of the Terran Imperium have crossed Kochikaze borders and attacked mobile forces and military fortifications of Tsutsui and Mohara. The Imperial 77th Field Brigade made its move while the Tsutsui-Mohara-Asakura forces were still assembling from multiple vectors to campaign against the foreign space invaders. The Tsutsui military reports that the Imperials cut across their southern border with the Tsuchimikado Forest, into Mohara, where it destroyed two reinforcement columns before returning. The alliance forces attempted to press the injured Imperial 77th into decisive battle but were unable to do so before it converged with a second Imperial brigade and shattered the alliance sky cruiser fleet. The Imperials destroyed a total of 35 Sky Cruisers (16 Mohara, 16 Tsutsui, and 3 Asakura) and 2 Assault Transports over the course of these battles, shattering the aerial combat strength of the gathered alliance fleet and leaving only its ground-unit transportation force and escorts, which managed to withdraw back to Tsutsui's primary fortifications in time. Faerskor also reports that the Ace Commander Segarum Faerskor also participated in the early phases of the battle with the elite 7th Incarnum Juggernaut Squadron, but was forced to withdraw due to overwhelming Imperial firepower as the aggressors cornered a single squad of Moharan Cruisers heading up to the front.
Tetsuo Tsutsui, the head of the Tsutsui, was reported to have been killed when his flagship was destroyed during the battle. Tsutsui officials publically announced that their people are prepared for mass-mobilization, to arm every ex-mercenary and make the Imperialists pay in blood for the killing of their leader. For a people which several years of mercenary service is almost seen as a rite-of-passage to adulthood, it is expected that the Tsutsui will be able to significantly bolster their forces, as long as equipment is available - armaments that the Tsutsui have also spent decades stockpiling. The Tsutsui has yet to release any news on who will succeed him to lead their province during this crucial time.
During the decisive engagement, Kochikaze military forces, which recently surrendered to the Imperials at the order of Kasai Kochikaze, rose up in rebellion at the city of Senrei. Unfortunately for them, the Imperials responded swiftly and crushed the rebellion with military might. Accounts from the city's residents confirm that the aerial bombardment and even siege weapons such as heavy flamers were utilized during the battle despite the urban setting. Civilian casualties, while currently untallied, are presumed to be heavy in light of these tactical choices, especially in a number of the city blocks that were virtually demolished by the fighting. A ranking Kochikaze civil official who wishes to be kept anonymous spoke out that "it is obvious from these actions, that despite the Imperials' sugar-coated words and pretentious acts of sincerity, they care little, if any at all, for the people of Chroma. That crap they're announcing - that's just self-justification for their own greed, nothing more." When asked about the fact the Imperials quickly repaired the battle damage dealt to the city, the official responded "They can repair those buildings they trashed, but can they replace all the belongings that was annihilated to specks of dust by their missiles? How about all those lives they've shattered, or eliminated entirely? It's like as if someone killed your kids and then offer you some money to 'pay' for it."
Military analysts are baffled by the Imperials' actions during the battles today. As far as intelligence gather, the 77th Brigade should have been the only force available. The Mohara claims that when the 77th departed, they confirmed that the Imperial military base in Kochikaze was virtually emptied. But somehow a new, second Brigade of armed forces popped up between the time of the 77th's departure and when the alliance cruiser fleet began their chase of a 77th brigade attempting to withdraw back to Kochikaze. Short of equipping an entire Brigade's vehicles with teleportation capabilities, which would raise costs to astronomical levels, experts were unable to figure out how the Imperium managed to instantaneously move in the new Brigade. All that can be offered is a warning to Chromian commanders that the Imperium can instantaneously move not only small strike groups but also large military forces.
A council of Moharan military analysts also claim that the Imperium must be rooted deeply in the concepts of fanaticism, based on its military performance. Battlefield reports show that Imperial forces managed to hold together and even maintain a certain degree of cohesion even at remarkably high casualties levels. One analyst commented "It's remarkable in a military perspective, but it's also against human nature! It makes you ask yourself - are they brainwashing their own troops or something? Or are they really aliens who just look like us but with completely foreign thought processes?"
