UPDATING continued...

After the two Archeronian governor-generals finished their brief explanation of the situation, they asked if either Samael or Kati had comments or questions. Samael began to ask about the possibility of summoning extraplanar creatures to help defend against the orcs. However, Lord Torric immediately became very uneasy as he expressed his disapproval. The last Archeronian attempt for planar summoning was performed by a dwarven wizard during the First Great Alliance War, where he tried to summon forth a positive energy elemental. The elemental was called through successfully, however it seems to also attracted a horde of demons which opened a rift and poured through. In that incident the demons and the rift were destroyed as it was caught in a crossfire between Arithmancers. Since then, Archeronians have become very afraid of the idea of summoning from planes for which they know little about, and planar knowledge isnt a specialty of Archeron wizards. Lord Torric expresses that he is unwilling to utilize summoning to defending his country when it has just as much chance of destroying it for the orcs. When Samael recommended producing planar summoning scrolls as a backup plan, Lord Torric became annoyed and slightly angry and forced an end to the discussion. However, he also stated to Samael that he would leave the matter up to the Misalinian's judgment in Trelling, but he would not order his other men to summon extraplanar beings.

With no further questions or comments, the two Archeronian governor-generals calls in the two Citadel Elite escorts from earlier to show Kati & Samael how to teleport to Trelling before taking their leave. The Citadel Elites leads the two Misalinians to a small assembly area within the city, heavily guarded by fortifications from four sides. Kati and Samael was then shown an image of the inside of the Trelling teleportation point before they teleported off.

On the other team, Jens teleports Derovarr, Ranmor, and Graamos to Blackbog Keep where they boarded the their Sky Galleon that was parked in the Keep's inner courtyard. Most of the bodies in the keep have already been cleaned up, and the wards that were deactivated last night were also raised again. Currently the guild repair teams were making repairs on the west walls where Misalinian bombardment did considerable damage during the last two battles here.

Once inside the ship they went up the decks and to the bridge, where the warforged pilots immediately took off and charged the teleporter before making the jump, arriving outside Trelling in a matter of seconds. The Sky Galleon then flew inside the city where it landed in a small plaza near the central city square. Upon landing, the four Misalinians stepped off the ship to find several Archeronian commanders, all humans, rushing up towards their landing spot. The lead commander then introduces himself as Colonel Garris, a Phantom Knight of the Archeron Palmira Province and commander of Trelling's garrison. After prelimary introductions, Garris lead the group to examine the city's defenses as per request of Derovarr.

The city sits on the left bank of the Carnia river, at a point where the river spans over 500ft with a depth of up to 50ft. A split was created to the west side of the city to serve as a moat, which has a width of 30ft at the narrowest sections and a depth of at least 15ft. The walls are built within 10ft of the river, its foundation supported by a bank of rocks and masonry. However, due to the limited foundation support available, they were unable to build the walls any higher than 30ft for fear of architectural instability. The walls is fortified by an impressive coverage of battlements and crenelations, and is segmented by guard towers each mounting two heavy ballistaes.

The city has four gates, each of which 20ft wide with magically hardened steel gates. Four stone bridges connect to the outside, however these bridges are fixed and cannot be retracted. The city's garrison has placed enough sonic contingency runes capable of demolishing the support beams on each of these bridges, which will activate upon command from a rod which Colonel Garris keeps with him.

The city also includes a small Keep to the south, as well as two strongholds at the northern and southern tips. The Keep and the two strongholds are each equipped with four fixed trebuchets, ten wheeled heavy onagers, and a stock of glass alchemist fire shots capable of sustained fire for three hours.

Outside the city, the countryside has been evacuated and is patrolled by two companies of Palmira scout cavalry. However, they also have contact with a group of Brigands who have camped themselves about 3.5miles northwest of the city, in the woods hidden by three hills. These outlaws did not appear until after the Norinth invasion, and while they refuse to work with the Archeronian forces, they have managed to coexist with the military scouts and express a particular hate of the Norinth and Fens forces. Colonel Garris believes they were driven out of their original residence by the enemy, and may prove of some help in resisting against the Fens clans. They number close to a hundred, and have been raiding the crops left behind in West Village to make their living.

There are two villages about 3 miles east and west of the city, named East Village and West Village. Almost everything within 3miles west of Trelling, as well as everything within 1.5miles of East Village, is farmlands. There is also a large orange orchard to the city's northwest, and a hill rising more than 200ft above the city on Carnia River's east bank. The hill, named Sunrise hill, is just northeast of the city and has a perfect unobstructed view of the city's inside. Currently a detachment of one company of light infantry occupies the hill. There are also a number of other hills and small patches of woods, mostly to the north at a distance of at least two to three miles from Trelling.

Apart from the Garrison of two light infantry regiments, five shock infantry companies including the newly returned ones from Misalin, two war-wizard companies, and two scout cavalry companies, Colonel Garris also has command of his two teams of twenty Phantom Knights. Two wings of Kharva Air Dragon Knights and a company of elite guard infantry are based just north of the southern stronghold, who are led by Governor-General Andrei Gant and Colonel Konstantin Gant. However, Colonel Garris admits he has no jurisdiction regarding them and the knights are out of the town most of the time on missions towards the north, as they are currently. He hopes that with the arrival of a commanding officers who is also of the Gant family, Governor-General Andrei will finally fork over control of that company of elite guard infantry, as he has been unwilling to give control of his personal guard unit to a Palmiran commander.

before I bring forth any more confusion, I'm not sure if I clarified this:

Penthiaen Companies and Regiments are MUCH smaller than their equivalents in Real Life.

A company in Penthiae is only around 100 men strong.
A regiment in Penthiae is around 1000 men strong.
and a line or team (depending on troop type) is typically 10 soldiers.

commanders typically cause the numbers above to get raised a bit.

so, quite a metric system :P

a squad is normally 5 soldiers, special ops squads may vary up to 12.
a wing is strictly given to air units, and is one dozen strong.

This is in comparison to REAL WORLD companies (150~200 soldiers) and regiments (2000~3000 soldiers).

After a while, Colonel Garris reports that he received message than the First Misalinian Commander has arrived at the Trelling teleportation point, which is a fortified assembly plaza just north of the Keep. Garris then leads Derovarr and the others south, where they meet back up with Kati and Samael and gives them the rundown of the City's defenses again. Colonel Garris then directs everyone inside the Keep's meeting room, where he shows the map of the area along with all troop deployments.

(this marks the conclusion of the briefing, and the start of you guys' planning stage.)

- A lot of parts also didn't scan in very well.
