--Battle opportunity, yes its quite an important one, I've posted a some rough notes on how I plan to assault they city. They're nowhere finalized with holes still need working out, but one thing is clear: remain passive and you will have 1500 battleragers & berserkers pouring down your throat. They have reserves too...
--This will still be opportunity to gain EXP during the downtime, so keep your RPing up, and toss the DM ideas on char history/development/relations/whatever.

Upon returning to Trelling, Derovarr appraoched one of the petty commanders on station.
"You, officer, contanct the forces at Arcandia, and send them the following message.
Message Begins: Message from Trelling Command. Enemy forces destroyed, scattered, and routed. City still intact. Decisive victory. Over.
Message ends."
After ending the message, he gave the officer a salute, and wondered out of the teleporation chamber, and up the stairs to the top level, where one could get a fairly good view of the city and the environs beyond. Upon reaching the top level, Derovarr took a moment to gaze out at the surrounding terrain, and on out to the hills, where columns of smoke continued to drift up. The sun was a mere instance from fading beyond horizon.
For the first time in what had seemed like an eternity, Derovarr removed his helm from his head, and allowed the evening breeze to blow across his brow, and carry his hair to the side. It was the most serene moment he had partaken in for weeks.
His ears were immediately drawn to sounds of boisterious laughter, as groups of soldiers wondered by, towards the inns and bars, below him; ready to drown themselves in triumph of the day's battle. The threat, in their minds, was over.
But, Derovarr's mind was elsewhere. He was already at work pondering the next battle, whether it be combative or diplomatic. Truth be told, even though he stood now in a moment of calm, his mind was aflame with worries and insecurities over his homeland and his friends. What would the future bring for them.
"What now?" He pondered aloud.
"What now?" perked up Phalanx, "Now you drag your ass down to the bar and have a drink with Bregallion, before you break down from nervous exhaustion, and someone has to carry you back you quarters. The Guard issued me a banner, not legs."
"Well, one certainly can't argue with that kind of decisiveness." Derovarr remarked, as he grabbed his helm, and stepped off the keep, walked down to the street, and walked towards the gathering place for the Crusader companies.

Ranmor, almost giddy with excitement over winning, went to locate some of his friends, especially Chiseven, and get mad drunk in celebration.

(10:22:27 PM) Drew: No sooner had Derovarr touched down on the ground then had another thought crossed his mind. How is our standing?
(10:24:07 PM) Drew: Standing with the soldiers is, of course what he meant. Perhaps it was time to see how his "superior" officer had been doing with regards to gaining support.
(10:25:28 PM) Drew: Message to Kati via Command Ring: "Important. Meet me in the burnt out general store across the street from the inn. Over."
(10:26:36 PM) Drew: After sending the message, Derovarr proceeded to their place of meeting. Hoping that she would be quick about it.
(10:43:14 PM) shinigami1101: Kati teleports to the burnt out store, fully intent on beating him there.
(10:51:19 PM) Drew: "You wasted a teleport?"
(10:51:50 PM) shinigami1101: "Yep, wanted to make sure the place was clear. What took you so long?"
(10:52:04 PM) Drew: "I walked."
(10:52:29 PM) shinigami1101: "I figured. So, what is this about?"
(10:52:44 PM) Drew: "Our commands."
(10:53:10 PM) shinigami1101: "What about them?"
(10:53:24 PM) Drew: "I wanted to know what you've been doing to consolidate our hold over the forces here."
(10:53:43 PM) shinigami1101: "The pay was distributed to the troops personally by myself"
(10:54:03 PM) Drew: "Not bad."
(10:54:21 PM) Drew: "Have you been speaking with them?"
(10:54:32 PM) shinigami1101: "Yes, in the little time we have had between battles"
(10:54:47 PM) Drew: "What kind of reactions have you been getting?"
(11:19:46 PM) Dave Pizzuto left the room.
(11:23:09 PM) shinigami1101: "The troops don't seem to understand what we are asking. I'm assuming you are getting the same reactions?"
(11:24:04 PM) Drew: Derovarr gave rather long sigh. "Please tell me you've at least been trying to garner support from our troops."
(11:27:57 PM) shinigami1101: "I have been trying, but it hasn't been easy with all the paperwork I had and the raids we were making. Hopefully you have had better luck than I"
(11:28:32 PM) Drew: "Mixed results."
(11:29:06 PM) Drew: "There are a few people I can definitely count on. But a lot of people are either clueless, or are pretending to be so."
(11:29:31 PM) shinigami1101: "Lets hope its not the latter. The last thing we need is them stabbing us in the back"
(11:31:16 PM) Drew: "The only ones I'm really concerned with the are the Sacrosancts that arrived with Ulrich."
(11:31:55 PM) Drew: "Of whom, I have no doubt have been working to counter my efforts."
(11:32:28 PM) shinigami1101: "Most likely they have been. How much do you think we have to worry about Ulrich himself?"
(11:32:29 PM) Drew: "In fact, I'm pretty sure one of them was trying to read everyone's mind last week in the Inn."
(11:33:18 PM) Drew: "Ulrich? Hmm, I'm not sure where to place him."
(11:33:31 PM) Drew: "We haven't spoken in private for some time."
(11:33:44 PM) Drew: "I don't he wants to betray us."
(11:34:13 PM) shinigami1101: "But he may have sealed orders and doesnt know what they contain."
(11:35:02 PM) Drew: "This is true. At which point it will become a test of loyalty."
(11:35:35 PM) Drew: "For us, it is much easier. To a degree anyway."
(11:35:48 PM) shinigami1101: "Hopefully it will not degress to actual combat"
(11:36:00 PM) Drew: "Hopefully not."
(11:36:30 PM) Drew: "It may we all be hinging on whether Ulrich can separate his duties to Anstrun from his duties to the State."
(11:36:32 PM) shinigami1101: "Ulrich's defenses are formbidable, but not impenetrable. However, if he gets the majority of the troops on his side, we are in for some trouble."

(11:37:32 PM) Drew: "Most of our ground forces were raised on Strusler's doctrines."

(11:42:27 PM) Drew: Derovarr, proceeded to walk carefully towards where he thought he saw the shadows, moving.

(11:45:08 PM) shinigami1101: "Yes. I learned it from the occasional trips to the old family homestead in Archeron."

(11:54:11 PM) Drew: With that Derovarr walked off, obviously not heading towards the main exit.
(11:54:56 PM) shinigami1101: Kati teleports out to the front area of the ship where the lockdown effect was supressed.

Derovarr stepped out of the side/manager's entrance to the old general store, onto a part of the street which was barely occupied. As he moved towards the Inn, he could hear the laughter rolling outside of the doors. Two officers stood outside, both with a tankard in hand, who were well under the influence by the time Derovarr was walking.
As he walked by, they attempted (albeit rather poorly) to stand at attention, using each other for balance. The attempt failed terribly, and they broke down into laughter after trying to act serious while so intoxicated.
"At ease boys." Derovarr said, patting one on the shoulder as he stepped through the swinging double door, and into the inn. Most of the tables were completely filled, but a few were lacking in number. As usual Derovarr only had to listen for a certain voice to know he was welcome.

Ulrich returns to his quarters and quickly scribes down a short report to Anstrom (sp?).
"Anything else he should know about Osmund?"
"don't you have those sealed orders that he gave you?"
"oh yeah, I'll take care of those on the morrow. For now, what I really need to do, is go and preach the word of the gods, showing how they aided us in this battle, and saved so many of our lives. Also, we must be sure to remind them that it was OUR commander, Sir Derrovar that led them to victory in their time of need."
"I see your point, well, then lets give them a good show, want some subliminal hymns in the background?"
"Yeah, just go with what seems appropriate, but I do love 'Battle for the Fair and Just'. After the sermon, I need to rest. I feel so tired, but I've grown so much today. Seems that the gods put us in battle not only to try us, but fighting for their cause refines the soul."
"I agree, you do seem to have more power. I only hope this isn't a message from Pelor that the worst is yet to come."
"Don't be so depressing my friend! We have won the day! it's time for celebration! How can you expect to give these people a good sermon with that kind of mentality? Come, let us rejoice with the parishioners."
" You're right of course. Let us be off then."

After giving his sermon (Diplomacy check? ) he retires for the night in his quarters.

The next morning, he awakens, summons breakfast, puts in an order with some of the artificers on the airship for a new helm and gloves (will be described on another thread). He then returns to his quarters and opens his sealed orders. Dai, please PM what they say at your convenience.

Garris returned to Trelling later tonight, he informs the rest of you his two companies of scout cavalry broke up into ten double-squad units and are in pursuit. They managed to overtake a number of scattered fleeing enemy units thus far, numbering around 200 goblins. However as they are not properly equipped for a campaign out, and with the diminishing returns at hand, he gave orders for them to return to Trelling starting at daybreak tomorrow.

With victory on the eastern front, High Command at Arcandia requests some reinforcements from the Trelling and Carnia garrisons, preferably one lightfoot regiment each. (Dmitri also receives this order and should have returned to Port Carnia) They're also bringing up reserves from various coastal cities and teleporting in Dwarven forces towards south of Lessik. Archeron HQ plans to launch a counteroffensive in the south to retake Lessik, while the dwarves in the north will march down the mountains with one army and take the Fens supply depot at the north banks of Lake Ceron. With an enemy cut off from supplies and between the three Archeron armies (garrison force in Arcandia, dwarven forces at Ceron Lake, and relief force in Lessik), they hope to annihilate the forces of the Fens around the walls of Arcandia.

Garris informs you that HQ is promoting him to High-Captain (Brigadier in Archeron ranking system) and instructs him to also take an additional three Shock Troop companies to south Lessik, where he will be taking a new command. Command of the Trelling Garrison is hereby given to Field-Captain Dmitri Revmiren, and full command of the Carnia Garrison given to Field-Captain Lavinia Greenhill.

on a more 1on1 note, he offers Ranmor a promotion to Field-Captain (Colonel) and to join him in south Lessik as the commander of the new Shock Dragoon regiment being formed. It will include the three Shock Troop companies from Trelling, one of which being Ranmor's former unit, who are also being fully resupplied with new mounts.
(note: Archeronian Shock companies are meant to be Dragoons before the war, although the high losses reduces many units to Infantry during the war...)

Dmitri is given the responsibility of transporting the troops, starting April21th.

"Sir, I accept the promotion."

Ranmor salutes Derovarr and Kati, "Lady Gant, Captain d'Rothwynn, it has been an honor serving under you. If you ever need my blade again, send word and I will come."

Addressing the rest of the squad as well, "May we never forget the comrades we lost or the battles we shared. It has been an honor."

With that, Ranmor leaves the party.

"Congratulations on your promotion High-Captain.

Before you leave, I would like to meet with you and Field-Captain Greenhill. We still have 5 companies of outriders in reserve at Port Carnia, and depending on how the enemy is moving it might be advantageous to teleport them into their line of retreat to intercept the enemy."

Garris: "Of course, that's fine with me. Although I can tell you there is little chance Captain Greenhill with offer that. I wouldn't advise it anyways. The enemy is spreading out too thin in its flight, and after a day it be near impossible to find any of them in worthwhile numbers. Not to mention, Port Carnia is the capital of the gnomes."

(4:24:41 PM) Zanaikin: he knocks on the door for a second, then calls over "Kati? You here? It's me."
(4:26:31 PM) ForSovietRussia: "Depends on who 'me' is," she answers jokingly as she walks over to the door.
(4:27:12 PM) ForSovietRussia: She opens the door "Hi dad!"
(4:29:29 PM) Zanaikin: "I'd be quite sad if you didn't recognize who 'me' is." Konstantin said, you notice him standing there, fully covered in uniform, not a sign that he was killed just a few days ago
(4:30:15 PM) Zanaikin: "hope you don't mind if I just walk in, lest you're busy celebrating with your boyfriend."
(4:30:48 PM) ForSovietRussia: "What boyfriend? You mean the paperwork has gained gender and intelligence now?"

(4:33:15 PM) Zanaikin: "I assumed you finished that by now, ever the unfocused procrastinator. Anyways, I'm on a bit of a short time so we'll cut excessive pleasantries down a bit."

(4:35:39 PM) ForSovietRussia: "Back to Kharva? It's a good thing you stopped by, i was going to look for you tomorrow to talk with you. There is something we have to talk about."

(4:37:28 PM) ForSovietRussia: "Remember how I told you I was investigating a few things? Such as Mom's death and the circle I activated? Some new information has come to light."

(5:35:14 PM) Zanaikin: "the proclaimers? there's a high chance of it, no one is sure who pulled all the triggers behind the incident that toppled the royal family of old, although several proclaimer branches definitely were suspects back then."
(5:37:03 PM) Zanaikin: "I must warn you that arvitor powers would hardly serve to aid against assassins, it will merely make the task of concealing yourself more difficult, particularly if you're unable to control them well."

(5:38:33 PM) Zanaikin: "it's a diary. I tried after her death to see if it could shed some light on the situation, but it could not be opened by any normal or magical means short of a process that may ruin the book."

(5:40:52 PM) Zanaikin: "Most likely. The diary in our residence in Capital City, in the top drawer of the northeast corner cabinet in my room. There's also a few other momentos of her stored in there, a few that may interest you."

(5:51:20 PM) Zanaikin: "by all rules, I need to return to Starik immediately to take over my responsibilities."
(5:52:28 PM) Zanaikin: "I have not been in Archeron for near a year by now, and even then only for a week. I cannot say I know the court at Starik well enough to say that no-one to try to use this reason against me to usurp power."
(5:54:55 PM) Zanaikin: "currently, there aren't any adults of the direct Gant lineage other than me, but... there may be a certain noble or branch family member who wish to challenge the position."
(5:56:02 PM) Zanaikin: "thus I must return immediately, for ambition will only seize more once confirmation of Andrei's death begins circulating. Which I believe it has not yet."

(6:00:26 PM) Zanaikin: "I have no wish or desire of the position of Governor-General, but it is a responsibility I should answer to, lest I allow the position to be pickered upon by less qualified candidates and turn Kharva to shambles."

(6:11:24 PM) Zanaikin: "also, you may not know this, but I realized it thru my researches of history. The sword Strusler wields is the original sword of Havardr, which can trace its history back to the Planar Crusades of Caerleon."

I am also going to talk to the scout commander. I want to get some longer range patrols out around Trelling with command rings to report back their findings. A general sweep of the immediate area to ensure that it is clear of enemy forces, and some longer ranging scouting to ensure nothing is coming. Each patrol should have a general route pre-planned and a set time to report in a couple times a day so that we can investigate quickly if anything happens to them.
