Ahz continues to survey through his sensor as the giants began throwing rocks. Somehow both of them missed the gates - probably to not make the illusion obvious. Then, as Gorin announced the fact and the overseer held back the next ballista bolt, the images of the giants and the spellcaster vanished.

The attack from elsewhere didn't surface immediately. Only the hellish illusory landscape continued to plague those inside the fortifications. After 8 minutes, the illusion ceased as well, and still no attack was coming.

Then, a shout emerge from the northeastern tower: "THE WALLS! THEY'RE TUNNELING THE WALLLS!"

The gnoll ranger on the north tower was quick to report over the channel: "I don't see anything..."

From the Keep's northeast edge, Ahz's darkvision soon saw what they mean: three small holes had appeared on the inside of the soft, limestone walls. Some kind of fungus was chewing its way through the stone, rapidly enlarging the tunnel while supporting it with some kind of fungal tube network. The holes weren't large enough to fit a humanoid yet, but they were steadily growing...

The Gnoll overseer climbs onto the north tower to take over the ballista. After a moment of conversation, the gnoll ranger that was at there notes over the communication channel: "I'll lead the archers on the walls above the breach. Send up anyone that you can spare."

One of the gnolls on the NE tower joins him.

Ranger2: "Not sure if we can spare any down south. Those drow might sneak a force up elsewhere and we won't spot them if we're any more undermanned."

( you all still have some time; feel free to place yourself and, for those in courtyard, direct the Firedrake + Ogres )

Moved Adoett, the Firedrake, and the Ogres. Adoett explains the plan to fire the Firedrake, and when the flames stop, he will jump in front to provide cover while they reload it.

He also cautions that we will start with a hail of arrows to ensure the enemies are not illusions. Firedrake is not to fire until one of the party confirms that targets are not illusions.

The fungus eating through the walls steadily grew until three, 5x5ft tunnels were formed. The ogres pushed the Firedrake into position while the gnolls ready themselves for combat.

Then, 2 minutes past the discovery of the tunneling creepers, a thunderous blast erupted from just outside the walls.

"The palisade... it just blew up! Whole chunk just outside the breach," Ranger1 reported, clearly not understanding what just happened.

Ahz and Goodberry both knew enough to guess (passive spellcraft): Explosive Runes could discharge a number of ways. The best case scenario meant it just killed a drow trying to sneak up. Or -- given Shurya revealed the defenses to the drow -- they triggered it with a Dispel on the outer wall.

Second later, another Vision of Hell erupted to bring inferno landscape to the material plane. This one only 50ft-radius and centered on the north walls (center marked VoH on map). It caught the north tower and all of those around the Firedrake in its area. Both of the ogres and all but one of the gnolls near Adoett looked shaken by the disturbing visage.

Then, almost at the same time, the Gnoll ranger shouted out: "DROW! MANY! 60FT OUT FROM 12'O CLOCK!"

The twang of his bow could be heard as he fired the first shot. Four arrows replied from the darkness in exchange. By the time the Ranger crouched back down to take shelter behind the battlements, two shafts were lodged in his shoulders.

"I think they're real..."

Adoett could hear the poor guy coughing up blood above him.

( Everyone can take their first round actions, or ready their actions. I'll shift into battle order once the drow are close enough to get messy. Adoett, Gorin, and Leah may also shift the gnolls/ogres around them into whatever formation they'd like. )

Ahz orders the crew manning the springal to rotate it to aim towards the Drow while he sends his mind eye (1 minute left on second casting) to survey the incoming enemy force.

Gorin prepares to cast Bull's Strength again when the first non-illusory drow pops through the gap. He tells the gnolls to make sure to stay to West of the common area, less they accidentally end up in range of the Firedrake.

Leah decides to stay where she is, out of the way of the firedrake, and gets ready to create an Astral Construct when the drow first enter the fort. Slowly gathering the energies around her, she decides to put everything she can behind it.

Once drow enter the fortress: (5PP + 2 Wild Surge) on AW26 => 4th level . Menu option: +4 deflection AC. Duration: 7 rounds. Manifesting Time 1 round
Enervation roll: 1d20 = 18. Safe.

Effects:
Force Screen (AC +4, 30 rounds)
4th-level Astral Construct (+4 AC, not yet summoned)

Assumption: Goodberry can see the wounded Ranger on the wall, AND can see the Gnoll Overseer.

Goodberry moves up next to Ahz, spends a free action to drop the Gnoll Overseer, and a Standard action to add the wounded Ranger. If the ranger accepts "Hang on, let me see if I can patch you up. South Ballista keep you eyes peeled to the south and west." Note: goal is after he's patched up next round (via Touch of Healing on Ahz, distributed over the Collective), he can switch back to the Overseer.

Adoett is peeking around his shield, holding his carving knife up, ready to signal the firedrake. After it fires he'll jump in front of it to provide cover while it's reloaded.

( assumption was unneeded; Goodberry had the two gnoll rangers in his collective; the overseer was not. Goodberry also cannot see the overseer: the courtyard is lit from the main building. The walls and towers are not [unless you have Low Light Vision, in which case you see dim lighting there]. )

Ahz's springal shot was off the mark again (3 squares to the southeast), though the incoming wave of drow presented such a big target that its rain of arrow caught a half dozen of them anyway. After he shoots, the three gnolls atop the keep rushed to begin reloading the weapon.

Gorin's warning caused the gnolls on his side to huddle against the main building. None of them wanted to risk being hit by flames sprouting from the firedrake.

Ranger1 lit up a Sunrod and haphazardly threw it outside the walls, unwilling to peek his head over again in fear of retaliatory fire. It landed in the breach and lit up the area (noted on map; those on walls/keep have direct visibility), just in time to see a mass of at least two dozen drow rush to the walls and begin making their way through the 3 tunnels. Meanwhile in the back of the formation, a drow ('DO') who seem to be clad in shadows sends off a burst of magic (spellcraft: Recitation) before marching forward, all the while shouting at the lesser warriors and driving them into the breach.

Leah begins manifesting her Astral Construct as she hears the attackers entering the tunnels.

The first 6 drow squeeze through the tunnels and emerge into the courtyard. All of them were already wounded from the early Springal volley, and those through the eastern tunnel take a hail of bolts from the gnolls' readied crossbows. Unfortunately, due to the laborers' lack of combat expertise, only two of the bolts actually find their target, This left the first drow seriously injured as he staggered into Gorin's reach...

Since he didn't have to add the Ranger, his pre combat order action would have been to Transfer Wounds on Ahz, sending the healing to the wounded Ranger.

Healing: 2d6+5 = 7+5 = 12, Goodberry takes 7 as nonlethal.

He spends a Swift action using to determine how wounded the Gnoll still is.

If the Gnoll is doing ok, he readies to manifest a 5P{ Natural Healing (3 targets, 9HP each, 27 HP total to distribute) the next time anyone in my collective takes a meaningful hit.

If the Gnoll is still more than 12HP down, he will instead do another Transfer Wounds.
Healing: 2d6+5 = 7+5 = 12, I take the 7 as nonlethal. This would leave me at 14 nonlethal and 37/37 HP.

Muscles swelling with feral might and terrifying claws growing from his hands, Gorin looked down upon the already injured drow before him and began to... sing?

While waiting for the gnolls to finish readying the springal for another attack, Ahz casts glitterdust on the targeted area (see bordered area on the map: AT18 to AW21).

(DC 16 Will save or Blinded for 6 rounds (affected creatures can attempt a new save at the end of each of their turns). Regardless of save all targets in the AoE are outlined (even if invisible) and take a -40 penalty on Stealth checks for the same duration.)
