The trail blazed by the previous expedtions is as clear as day, what with there being no wind to disturb it. Niles' keen eyes also spot a small canyon network to the north.

The tracks lead to a cave, much like the one you emerged from. This one appears to be a dead end. Funny thing though: the north wall appears to be glowing in unnatural fashion.

Niles' force of will and technical know-how inform him that the cave wall is, in fact, a hologram, a form of technological illusion. Walking trough it and coming out the other side reveals that the source of the glow appears to be a doorway, damaged in such a way as to not close all the way.
