Daveed believes that the best option would be for the Knights to move against Paradise Hill, while the Descendants hold Southbank. In the event that enemy numbers become too great, the Descendants would withdraw. Daveed is confident that Knights would be able to break through the defenses at Paradise Hill before enemy reinforcements could arrive to attack them from the rear.

Epicette thinks this plan will work fine.
The Rangers will be deployed behind the bridge, with hidden lookouts posted near the other end and near the ghoul's end of southbank. This should give ample notice if either force moves aggressively, allowing for a flexible response.

Daveed's Assault on Paradise Hill:

[begin]
The army of paladins arrays itself before Daveed as he gathers Irabeth and Aravashnial stand with him
Daveed's dramatic pause holds his audience captive as they look at him, radiant under the early morning sun.
Charles Geckle
Daveed uses Mythic Speech of Awesome +2 to rally the paladins for their assault on Paradise Hill. (DoC Diplomacy: 1d20+22+20= 57).
Eric Holland
the men are roused by his speed and mount up and head east to the bridge to paradise hill
after making it to the bridge the men dismount and dismiss their horses to the celestial planes while making it into the town on foot
Daveed's speech fueled by his recent badassery has everyone ready for the attack and dutifully watching each other's backs. (+2 OM in addition to the +4 DV from his mythic point)
you enter the warehouse district and make it a decent way in before the first engagement with the schir happens.
Somewhere in the middle of your troops a squad of the goat men come leaping down from the warehouse rooves
Select Strategy track, boons, and roll OM
Charles Geckle
Paladins will form into two defensive formations, Daveed leading one and Irabeth leading the other (Expert Flankers Tactics). Daveed will grant his Defensive Tactics Boon. The Paladins will use their Smite Evil ability as they engage the Schirs.
OM vs. Schir Army: 1d20+14= 32
Eric Holland
While the demons thought they had the upper hand, the paladin's high spirits and awareness turned the sneak attack into the Schir practically jumping onto the men's weapons.
a circle was formed and the schir were bullied into it where the paladins struk decisive blows without taking a scratch
Irabeth takes a squad into the largest building near the attack and manages to find some surviving captors who tell you about another warehouse where more are being kept
There were about 30 Schir defeated in that skirmish
Charles Geckle
"Forge ahead. Our mission is not finished till our banners fly in paradise!"
Eric Holland
A small group of men help the captured make it back to Southbank
The rest of you forge onward and on your way you find another ambush! This one is coming from ground level from two warehouses on opposite sides of the street
One of the warehouse doors opens and a Vrock leads men out of it, glaring at Daveed
Charles Geckle
The Paladins will maintain their current tactics.
Eric Holland
The Schir advance with the Vrock coming directly for Daveed. Roll OM
Charles Geckle
OM: 1d20+14= 27
Daveed's eyes and blade flash with a brilliant and terrifying radiance. "For the crusade!" He roars, charging towards the enemy commander. Meanwhile, Irabeth readies the second detachment of the Knights to turn the enemy;s ambush against them.
Eric Holland
The forces clash and this fight is much closer for some of the men. The Knights take 1 point of damage.
Irabeths charge is successful in taking out the flanking force, and Daveed has the personal satisfaction of taking out the commander
it is a tough 5 minutes of fighting and just before Daveed strikes the final blow the Vrock cackles in abyssal "You may have got us but you're too late for your friends."
As Daveed leads his men into the warehouse he becomes grimly aware of what the demon ment
there are the remains of at least 50 men in the warehouse, all killed within the hour.
Irabeth reports that there's another 30 dead in the warehouse she engaged
At this point you have covered about half of the Hill
Charles Geckle
"Our enemies wish to fight this war on such terms. So be it. But we shall continue to fight with honor and valor." Diplomacy to keep the paladins from slipping towards vengeance mode (1d20+22= 34)
Eric Holland
You can see the sadness welling in some of your men as they look on their dead countrymen, but can see that your words have reached them, and your men advance with a tranquil fury, keeping an eye out for anyone they can save.
You advance into the northern section of the Hill and have a few more encounters with squadrons while you advance down narrow alleyways and a few of the skinnier roads (roll one more OM)
Charles Geckle
OM: 1d20+14= 25
Eric Holland
Your men fight well but some cries for help as you approach a few of the last warehouses distract some of them. (1 point of damage). The soldiers who take the first strikes of the ambush are quickly protected by their nearby allies and no one is lost
spread throught the warehouses in the norther you find another roughly 80 crusaders who are alive, though many of them are emaciated or weak from bloodloss and torture. You also find some chained beside others who didn't quite make it, and will add another 20 souls to your prayers and rites this evening
Charles Geckle
Daveed orders the banner of Mendev raised in the District Square.
Eric Holland
The banner is raised and the men look at it solemnly praying for the men who lost their lives here.
Irabeth suggests you not linger here too long and make it back to Southbank
Charles Geckle
Daveed orders the enemy HQ raided for resources or intel. Afterwards, the Knights set out for Southbank.
Eric Holland
[End]

Epicette's Defense of Southbank:

[Begin]
About 5 minutes after the paladins leave the scouts by the edge of the ravine see the Ghouls start to mass
Aron speaks up and mentions that with all the climbing and the width of the ravine the Rangers could probably do some serious damage before the ghouls made it back up.
Dai Y.
Epicette orders the entire Ranger force, minus a few scouts keeping an eye on the bridge, to move to the cliff edge and begin pouring fire down at the ghouls. In addition, they are order to fall back 100ft should the ghouls reach near the cliff's precipice.
Eric Holland
True to orders, the rangers assemble quickly and begin firing. You gain +3 OM from the terrain. Make an offense check
Dai Y.
18+2+3 = 23
(No reason to hold back while they can't attack us! Reckless Strategy it is. Add +4 OM for 27)
Eric Holland
Your armies arrows pour into the ravine and over a hundread ghouls drop before they start making it up your side of the terrain.
Dai Y.
(also +2 for Combat Style and Hunter's Bond; almost forgot about them)
Eric Holland
Your training with retreating attacks pays off and your men fall back while still fighting. Make another Offense check
Dai Y.
Epicette rushes back in the rearguard before yelling out to the men as they near the approximate location: "Turn about! Take aim! and volley again!"
(OM: 7+2+4+2 = 15)
Eric Holland
the next few volleys finish putting down the remaining ghouls, though you do have to give a good 300ft before the last ghoul goes down.
The men cheer in victory as they reclaim their spent arrows
Dai Y.
Epicette joins in for a minute, but only for a bit before restoring order just in case the Keep garrison decides to take advantage of the situation. A detachment is sent into the ravine to gather arrows if they wish, but definitely not the whole army.
Eric Holland
the small detachment is able to recover the arrows and the squads are back in position before the paladins return.
[end]

As the Paladins return, they find the Rangers looking rather pleased with themselves. A quick look in the western ravine quickly explains it, as there lies a pile of 200 dead ghouls. The Clerics and medically trained rangers quickly start looking after the sick and wounded ex-prisoners who return with the paladins, and Gwerm gets to work setting up a quick Infirmiry and Triage to manage the wounded and resources.

Irabeth looks to Daveed and Epicette and inquires about assaulting the Keep's Courtyard now.

[Begin]
Your armies are gathered at Southbank having just rejoined and Irabeth comes to Daveed and Epicette asking about plans of attack vs the Keep proper
Dai Y.
Once Epicette sees that the Paladins are returning, she gives Reverie to Anevia and requests her to take a scouting trip to the outermost tower. Avoid the enemy, but get to the roof and keep an eye on what the enemy is doing. If the tower/walls are clear, drop a smokestick on the south side of the outer walls to signal us.
Eric Holland
Epicette communes with her owl and turns to Daveed and Irabeth saying that the walls are manned with maybe 50 tieflings and a dozen or so dretch, with more dretch and cultists in the courtyard
Anevia returns with not much to report as she turned back when she saw that the walls were manned
Charles Geckle
"Looks like we're going to have to fight our way in.
"The old fashion way at least."
Eric Holland
Epicette also reports that while they didn't have the catapults up and working, they seemed to be planning something else from the watchtowers
she wasn't able to determine what
Looking around, you notice that while the men are confident in their abilities, they are also itching to continue the fight
they know they have the enemy on the backfoot
Dai Y.
While the Pallies mount and form up, Epicette sends the Rangers up onto the bridges towers and walls and start volleying the tieflings on the walls, persuading them to leave.
Eric Holland
The enemy Tieflings take cover behind their wall and begin exchanging shots
[Retcon last two lines]
Charles Geckle
Daveed, along with Irabeth and a banner carrier approach the enemy, keeping at least 200ft distance from the entrance to the courtyard.
Daveed also tells Epi that two blasts from his horn will be the queue to start the assault.
Daveed also casts Eagles Splendor before the approach.
Eric Holland
As Daveed approaches he notices many crossbows leveled at him but none fire just yet.
Charles Geckle
"Warriors of the Worldwound. It surely dawned upon you by now, that this is a lost fight. In the space of a few hours, we have smashed your forces in Southbank, Paradise Hill, the Bridge, and your ghoul allies to the South.
I suspect even now, your commanders are frantically trying to justify the situation to you and their superiors. Look around you! This battle is lost!
But unlike the demons, and unlike the cowards at Paradise Hill, we are willing to show mercy.
I offer you this. Send forth your enemy commander. Send him to fight his own battle! We will settle this fight now!
If even this most basic display of honor is beyond him, then I say this to all living, mortal defenders of the Citadel! Drop your weapons and and abandon your posts. Withdraw and return when the demons are slain, and you will be granted amnesty!
This battle is done! Do not throw away your lives for masters who care nothing for you!"
(DoC Diplomacy: 1d20+22+20= 58)
Eric Holland
One of the tieflings on the walls shouts back "You think we're doing this for our Masters? We're in this for the POWER. We outnumber you two to one! Let your army come!" With this a stinking cloud apears surrounding Daveed and his entourage. The crossbows are loosed as well, though most of them ting harmlessly off of Daveed's and Irabeth's armor.
Daveeed needs to make a Fort save
Charles Geckle
(Fort: 1d20+13= 18)
Eric Holland
pass
Charles Geckle
Daveed and co turn away and ride battle to their battle lines. He sounds his Horn of Assured Victory twice as they do."
Eric Holland
With combat begining: I need Strategy Track, Tactics, and Boons as well as first phase targets and OM roll
Dai Y.
Having been awaiting the moment, Epicette orders the Rangers to volley the tielflings on the walls from the bridge towers/walls, including asking Anevia to make an example of that idiot tiefling who just shouted back.
(Strategy: 0/0; Tactics: normal; activating Combat Style; activating Hunter's Bond)
(OM: 15+2+2+1d6mythic[4] = 23)
(Favored terrain halves any terrain/battlefield advantages)
Charles Geckle
The Knights of Kenabres will charge into the Citadel's courtyard, after the first volley of arrows from the Mongrelfolk. Standard Tactics/Strategy. Still using Daveed's Defensive Tactics boon.
(OM: 1d20+10= 23)
Dai Y.
(Ranger OM bumped to 25)
Eric Holland
The Rangers have no trouble finding their targets and quickly take down the tieflings on the walls. With the hail of bolts quickly dropping to nothing, the Knights are able to close into the courtyard quickly.
As they approach the Dretches lay down a large field of Stinking Cloud, causing the paladins to loose a few men to nausea (treat as -1 OM and -1 DV)
The cultists however notice that they are being quickly outmatched and throw down their weapons as soon as a knight gets close, clearing the way to allow the knights to attack the dretches, but don't seem to be able to quite put them all down.
Also as they enter the open gates, the devices on top of the watchtowers are discovered to be boiling cauldrons which are dumped over the sides and onto the paladins and horses below (1 damage to the paladins)
Phase 2: Choose your targets and roll OM! There are weakened dretches, and surrendering cultists left
Charles Geckle
The Knights crush the Dretchs in the courtyard without mercy. OM: 1d20+10= 29)
Dai Y.
Epicette orders the Rangers to finish the ones on the walls first before assembling down on the bridge to follow the knights in. Unfortunately the enemies' reduce numbers made them much harder to shoot.
(OM: 5+2+2 = 7)
Eric Holland
The rangers arrows are not able to find their marks, but fortunately the demons prefer melee anyway and jumped at the paladins hoping to do some damage. However, most of them have poor sight and missed hitting nothing buth teh ground and were summarily slaughtered by the Knights.
The knights stand in the Courtyard of the citadel with 200 enemy cultists surrendering to be taken prisoners.
Charles Geckle
Daveed orders half of the Knights to secure the courtyard and organize the prisoners. Irabeth takes the other half to begin clearing out any remaining resistance that may be lingering inside/on top of the walls.
Eric Holland
[End]

After the chaos in the courtyard has been settled. Daveed orders the prisoners from the day's battles to be escorted to the other side of the east wall, and placed under heavy guard (at least 40 paladins).

Aravashnial volunteers to head guard duty of the prisoners and gathers 50 paladins, including Arles to go clear out and secure a few buildings on paradise hill to hold the new prisoners for the time being. Sosiel quickly sets up a triage on Southbank and begins treating the rescued crusaders, though he suspects it will be two to three days before they are fit for combat (Cleric powers don't quite beat good bed rest after such an ordeal, and there are a lot of patients). Irabeth and Anevia coordinate the rest of the paladins and the mongrelfolk to begin setting up camp/command areas for the coming siege of the citadel proper. You have taken all of the field units, but there is still the massive citadel interior that needs to be cleared of the enemy commanders, and searched for the Sword of Valor (assuming it's still inside the citadel at all).

Epicette requests for any paladins and rangers not on guard or patrol duty to start gathering as much construction materials from the nearby regions as possible and stockpile it just south of Ahari bridge. She talks to Irabeth to organize this after the camp is set up, with help from Gwerm if he knows the business of construction materials (since he is a trader by background).

The materials will allow a better fortified camp to be erected later.

Until the time is right to assault the citadel, Malorix will keep himself busy tending to the wounded of the battle and the former prisoners, and the rites for the dead ones.

Gwerm has already requested about 10 soldiers to help him gather resources from the surrounding area, using his knowledge of materials and trade to lead the scavenging effort of Paradise Hill.

Sosiel welcomes Malorix's help, and the survivors thank him for performing last rites for their fallen comrades. More than one soldier asks Malorix if he would hold a memorial/funeral service this evening.

Assuming the assault on the citadel is not underway at that point, Malorix will certainly agree to perform such a funeral.
