Anevia thanks you for thinking of her returning to her home one day and helping to keep it fresh and ready for her and Irabeth. She identifies the orc as one of the rogue sorcers that Irabeth jailed one or two years ago but can't remember much else.

Your travel to Defender's Heart is impressively uneventful. You arive at the building, Kenabres's largest inn, and Anevia calls out "Silverstrong" when questioned for the password. The giant stone building is mostly untouched by the attack, partially due to being built to last, and because the main demonic focus was in Old Kenabres and the waterfront.

Irabeth and Anevia have a tearful reunion and it becomes apparent that Irabeth is the highest ranking survivor of the Eagle Watch.

"Thank you for watching over Anevia and reuniting us" Irabeth says. "We will assist you in whatever way we can. I'm in charge of the eagle watch, at least until the Mendevian army arrives to help reclaim the city."

"Hail, Sword of Inheritor! I am Daveed Sunseeker, and these fine crusaders standing behind me have proven to be of both valor and virtue. We would ask only for a place to rest and recuperate, as there are a few loose ends that we feel the need to taken care of. Perhaps we should step inside, and discuss this at length?"

Malorix lets Daveed do the talking for the time being, mentally preparing himself for the inevitable hey-that's-a-tiefling conversation.

"Yes yes, of course, come in." Irabeth says. "We can discuss tactics and our situation later tonight. For now why don't you have a drink and relax. I think there may be a group of Sarenrae's cleric's in the back."
She turns to Henric and Millorn "The surviving mages are comparing notes in one of the larger suites on the second floor."
"There is a small archery range with some scouts up on the roof" she directs at Cernandlon.
"Demon, Daemon, or Devil?" she asks Malorix. "The crusaders who have... overcome their heritage seem to have taken different rooms based on their parentage."
When she turns to look at Epicette, she seems to recoil some, and then Epicette realizes that she has identified Eclair. "Are... are you planning to bring a skunk into the inn?"

Rather bemused, Epicette replied: "Familiar, actually. Don't worry, Eclair is quite smart. The stink is reserved for those who deserve it. I'm Epicette, by the way; it's nice to meet you -- heard nice things from Anevia."

After going in, Epicette does the following:
1) She'll drop by the mages with Henric/Millorn first (if they're going) and say hi. Try to gather if there's any familiar-based casters (aka Witches) here. Obviously, she's interested in swapping spells.
( Diplomacy to gather info/first impressions: 17+2 = 19 )

2) Check if there's either a room dedicated for the mages' crafting/research, or if she could request a room for such use later.

3) She also checks if there's anyone here selling scrolls or willing to craft them. She's interested in the availability of the following:
Lvl1: Blend, Blood Money
Lvl2: Detect Thoughts, Mask Dweomer (Communal), Mount (Communal), See Invisibility, Dark Way [SpC], Reflective Disguise [SpC], Speak to Allies [SpC]
Lvl3: Arcane Sight, Dispel Magic, Locate Object, Share Senses, Speak with Dead, Stinking Cloud, Suggestion, Greater Mage Armor [SpC], Unluck [SpC]

4) See if there are any merchants gathered here willing to trade, since we'd need to sell/buy.

5) Meanwhile, Epicette will keep a lookout to see if anyone in the patrol she once served with, or its Captain Vrikadan, may be here.

Before anything, Daveed informs Irabeth about Aravashnial and the other Blackwing survivors who will need to be escorted to safety. He volunteers for the task himself, if she can spare no troops for the mission. He also brings word of Chief Sul and the Descedant's pledge to aid in the defense of the city.

Daveed then spends a good hour in prayer/conversation with the other devoted of Sarenrae (maybe two if he knows any of them). He also offers his old scimitar, freely, if any of the others need one.

Afterwords, Daveed secures a privates, or at least, quieter room, somewhere in Defender's Heart (preferably one with a window) and spends the next few hours in meditation on the last few day's events.

When that is done, Daveed will mill around, checking in on his comrades until it is time to meet with Irabeth.

Henric goes to talk to those mages, presumably with Millorn.

Malorix is so stunned by Irabeth's question that he's momentarily lost for words. "Ah... demon, actually. I... didn't realize there were quite that many of us. It's heartening to know." He also volunteers for the Blackwing escort mission should he be needed, and discusses the intelligence the party has gathered regarding the demon cultists' safehouses. (IIRC, Nysersion Manor was a smoking crater, but we've yet to hit Topaz Solutions or the Tower of Estrod.) He also provides the location of the tailor and his family. (Remember them?)

Unless he remembers something else, or is needed for something else, Malorix will go get acquainted with his true brothers and sisters, bolstered by the knowledge that in his struggle, he is not alone.

XP:
800xp for escorting Anevia home.
800XP for reuniting Anevia and Irabeth
1200XP for finalizing the alliance between Neathholm and the crusaders.

Irabeth thanks Daveed for the information and says that she will send some men to finalize the alliance with the First Descendants, and another squad to collect Aravashnial and the others. He is able to find some of his old friends from when he was in the Clergy. I hands off his old scimitar with one of the newer service members and spars with him a little to help boost the young man's confidence with the new blade.

Epicette is able to assay Irabeth's concerns over Eclair. The mages are happy to share their knowledge with her, but are somewhat pressed for crafting at the moment with the need to provide wands and scrolls for the inn's defenses and the upcoming assault. that you learn about. Epicette is happy to find one other Witch in the inn [I'll determine level and spells later]. A section of the mages room is dedicated to crafting and she is able to get a space on one of the tables if she desires.

Henric is able to get Millorn in with the other mages without making too much fuss and is able to sit him quitely in a corner with a new book on ethical uses of necromancy.

Cernandlon is able to craft all of his arrows just before it is time to meet with Irabeth.

as Malorix makes his way to the Demonspawn Tieflings, he passes a room with a sign on it that reads "DeDeDeAnon in progress" and hears someone anouncing the next speaker saying "This and now for our region's King DeDeDe to talk about keeping on the righteous path." Further down the hallway he looks in a door to see the following:
Image
4 Daemonspawn are lamenting on how everyone always confuses them with "those chaotic demonspawn tieflings". Finally he makes it to a room where 2 Demonspawn tieflings are consoling a third.

The merchants that survived the attack are willing to trade at slightly less than market price. Anything 100GP or less is readily available. Items up to 2500gp have a chance of being found.

Magic:
There are 7 wizards (4 of 6th level, the other 3 lower) 3 Sorcers (one 6th level) and 1 Witch (4th level) at the inn.

The witch has Blend, Detect Thoughts and See Invisibility, Obscuring Mist, and Soothing Word from your requested list. She is willing to trade them for some of your spells

The Wizards are currently busy crafting for combat against the invaders, and as such are unable to change what scrolls they are currently mass producing but Irabeth lets them know what you've done so far and you will be able to buy the following at 70% market value:
Mount(Communal),
Speak to Allies,
Dispel Magic,
Greater Mage Armor.

They have more spells and tell you to talk with them again once the town is theirs and maybe you could do more business.

( Squall I can't give someone Gallant Inspiration since that's one of my racial-drawn spells and not from the Witch spelllist )
( also, the posted was the list of spells I want to buy, the full list I'm interested in also includes the following for lvl1 / 2; does the witch have any of the following: )

Lvl1: Charm Person, Obscuring Mist
Lvl2: Cure Moderate Wounds, Soothing Word, Healing Lorecall, Share Memory

EDIT:
Epicette gladly takes the spells offered, and offers any 1st/2nd level spell the other finds useful. She leaves Reverie for a while for spell trading (takes 8hrs to learn the two 1st level spells and three 2nd level spells; more time to teach back, so probably leaving a day)
Spellcraft checks:
Blend [1st] : 12+12 = 24
Detect Thoughts [2nd] : 18+12 = 30
See Invisibility [2nd] : 17+12 = 29
Obscuring Mist [1st] : 10+12 = 22
Soothing Word [2nd] : 8+12 = 20

She buys a Greater Mage Armor scroll (227.5gps)

The party's to-sell list has been made organized in the party ledger here : viewtopic.php?f=128&t=1315&p=21223#p21223
Epicette does drop by Millorn to see if there's any spells he wants out of the spellbook before it's sold.

Malorix knocks quietly on the door and introduces himself to the three. Noting that one appears to be in considerable distress, he asks what he can do to help, being a cleric and all.

Millorn says that he was able to make a copy of the important spells, and that the party is free to sell the book.

The party is able to sell their loot for 10700gp.

Over the time Epicette is able to learn all the spells she tries to learn.

The Tieflings welcome Malorix in and one of them explains that the distressed on had to kill his demonic parent the previous day while defending the inn. "There... there must have been another way. He was my... my father..." the pained tiefling says.

Party Fund Splitting:
10,931 GP -> Malorix, Cernandlon, Henric, Epicette, Millorn

800gp to everyone but Malorix first, which eliminates his loot debt (10931-3200=7731)
1,500gp to everyone (7731-1500x5 = 231gps)
remaining 231gps goes to party pool

This gives:
Malorix: 1,500gps; loot debt removed
Cernandlon, Henric, Epicette: 2,300gps
Daveed: 2,300gps of loot debt removed (900gps remaining)

Ledger updated.

now with more money, Epicette also buys the Mount (Communal) scroll (105gps)

[Scott: let me know and we can continue your RP separately]

Irabeth gathers you that evening and informs you that during the day she sent a group to gather Aravashnial and the Tailor family. She also informs you that a squad went to Topaz Solutions but only found a taunting note and some poisons. As the meeting begins in earnest, she introduces you to Quednys Orlun, an aged human wizard and the Founder and head librarian of Blackwing Library. He had been severely wounded saving citizens at the cathedral but seems to be starting to mend.

“As horrific as recent events have been, we’ve come to realize that they are, in fact, merely a prelude. The razing of the Kite, the destruction of our wardstone, Terendelev’s murder, and the assault on the city were nothing more than opening gambits. The Worldwound is on the march in a more concentrated assault than we’ve seen since the fall of Drezen. It’s fair to say the Lord of the Locust Host is finally making his move. The end of this hundred-year-war is upon us, and it falls to us to ensure victory. While the Templars of the Ivory Labyrinth were scattered, those who serve the Lord of the Locust Host himself remain concentrated in Old Kenabres. What we’ve heard from within the barricade they’ve erected is ominous. The cultists are waiting for something, and based on our own information and what you’ve managed to recover so far, it sounds like the vile witch Areelu Vorlesh will soon be coming to Kenabres. And it appears that we’ve determined what she intends to do.

When the wardstone was destroyed by the Storm King, it exploded and destroyed the Kite. The network along the border failed, but did not fade completely. I believe this is because a significant portion of our wardstone still exists, and that the cultists have taken it to the old garrison in Old Kenabres. From what we’ve learned, they’re hoping to engineer a way to somehow reverse the field generated by the wardstones—essentially, to use our own greatest defense as a devastating weapon. The attack on Kenabres had a predictable result: causing the crusade to gather at the border to defend it. Some wonder why the demons haven’t attacked in stronger numbers. I believe that Areelu was counting on us massing along the border, and that if she can corrupt the wardstone field, she can strike a devastating blow against us all. In effect, we’ve lined up for the slaughter. Vorlesh is surely seeking some object of great Abyssal power, and with it she intends to turn the source of our hope into an unimaginable nightmare. We cannot hope to evacuate everyone from the border—I doubt they would give up the defensive line even if they knew what the enemy planned. But we can still stop this from happening—we just need to have someone infiltrate the Gray Garrison, locate the wardstone fragment, and destroy it. Fortunately we may still have some time. The tower of Estrod might have more information on where they are keeping the fragment, or at least have some intel on their numbers. You have proven yourselves capable, what are your thoughts on the situation?”
