Part 3: Amid the Ruins

"The demons had purpose in destroying this place. Aravashnial, does your organization have any enemies who would ally with demons?"

Epicette: you ID the scroll as a Dimensional Lock spell.

Epicette and Cernandlon: You are both quite certain that the worms are no species known to Golarion.

All: your knowledges of the Planes, and of Religion do you no good here.

Henric passed a Know[Arcana] check to ID the Worm that Walks. I'll let him post a response.

Aravashnial turns to the group: "We were a group who's sole purpose was to close the Worldwound and prevent extraplanar incursions. I would venture that anyone who allied with the demons would seek to have us destroyed. Especially the demons themselves."

Henric continues thinking, sighing audibly in thought a few times and muttering quietly to himself, before bursting out with "Right! Got it. That's a worm that walks, which is formed out of an evil spellcaster buried in desecrated ground. The worms decompose the corpse and absorb the soul, creating a mass of worms in the rough form of the original caster. It's not an undead, though, since the worms are still alive, and it does retain the original spellcasting ability. The casters also tend towards the powerful end of the spectrum, so they're definitely something to be wary of."

Daveed is left somewhat speechless at Henric's sudden spur of information, and merely blinks in response.

(Also, Daveed is interested in the Banded Mail, and would like Henric to use that fancy magic of his to clean it off, when he has the chance. He also uses Detect Evil to scan it for signs of evil).

"Oh, lovely. As if demons weren't enough, now we've a freakish rogue wizard made of grave carrion running around. Figures such a mage would be in the demons' employ." Malorix looks around at the ruins of the library. "So, where do we proceed from here?"

[Squall255]

Daveed detects no evil on the armor, nor anywhere in the library.

Gwerm turns to Malorix, "I believe you promised to take me home. It IS what I'm paying you for." he says.

[Mr_Praetorian]

"Patience, Mr. Gwerm, we just want to make sure everyone here is situated." Daveed responds, as he finishes strapping on the Banded Mail, and admiring its new polished glow.

"Aravashnial. Will you remain here, or continue with us?"

[Zanaikin]

"Which organization is this?" Epicette asks Aravashnial-why-is-his-name-so-many-syllables...

Updated party loot list
Banded Mail going to Daveed (pretty sure you have a monopoly on heavy armor claims drew, since clerics no longer get that proficiency).
Epicette takes potion of invisibility this time; also trades her light crossbow for the masterwork one since no1 else seems to want it at moment.
Suggests Cernandlon take the Cure Moderation pot (please post if you do)

Aravashnial says "as I mentioned before we got here, there Riftwardens." [DM note: he mentions it towards the end of page one of this thread]
"I will stay here with these librarians and help gather what further information we have, without being able to read I will need them to help me prepare some spells as I'm nearly out anyway."

Gwerm silently finds somewhere to sit until you are ready to leave.

[Mr_Praetorian]

"Then let us depart. I wish you well Aravashnial, you have been a good traveling companion. Know that if we find a more concentrated defensive position, that we will do what we can to have you and these librarians extracted.

Go shining." Daveed finishes with a nod, before donning his helm and turning to the rest of the group.

"Let's move out."

[Laharl]

"Actually, I have one quick question to ask. If you're a Riftwarden, did you know [names of parents] or what happened to them?"

[Zanaikin]

Epicette turned into the conversation: "Since it's brought up, I have the same case. Both my birth parents -- the Agyens -- went on a mission for the Riftwardens just before the 4th crusade started. Never came back. Timewise, I think it's around the same as his..." she tentatively glances at Henric.

[Laharl]

Henric nods in response. "Yeah, that's the right timeframe for when my parents disappeared too. Maybe they were on the same mission, or something?"

Aravashnial tilts his head up for a moment pondering, and muttering the names you gave him. "Hmm... yes I do remember them though not very well I'm afraid. I know that they did a lot of field work for us in the Worldwound. Alas I don't know anything about their disappearance. I'll have the librarians help me look through what records we have left and see what I can find while we fortify this position. I'm sure we had a record somewhere of what happened to them. Lets just hope it survived."
