Chapter 0: Summons to Bavara

Athaulf proceeds upwards at a more guarded pace, his hammer at the ready.

Slowly, but surely, Athaulf makes his way up the steps, and finally to the hallway he was expecting. The hallway extends 15ft from his position, and the door, which has been left slightly open, is on the left side. Athaulf also notices a dark smoke rolling out past the door. Meanwhile, he can hear his foe continuing to move up the stairs on the other side of the room.

Faerevar continues to follow Athaulf.

Satella sits poised, ready to strike.

(Judson, go).

Athaulf proceeds cautiously onwards after the evil warrior.

Athaulf makes it to about 5ft from the door when a horrid smell, something awfully similar to the smell of rotting flesh, hit him. Inured by his time in the Plaguemarch, Athaulf was grounded enough to continue, but Faerevar let out a half-cough, half gag, before placing his hand on Atahulf's shoulder.

"Hold up," he said, eyes tearing up a bit. "I think that might be Blackrot."

Shortly thereafter, the two (three counting Satella, from above) heard the sound of something heavy being dragged across floor on the level above them.

"Can you continue?" Athaulf asks the gagging ranger. (Do I know what Blackrot is?)

(Blackrot is a substance made from a weed that grows in the Hordelands to the east. Supposedly, it only takes root where mass amounts of corpses have been buried. Typically, its used for primitive rituals concerning death. Though, recently its been turning up in Black Markets across the west, as an additive to Noxious Smokesticks. If rumors are to be believed, a Blackrot Smokestick combines the horrid smell of rotting flesh with a powerful ingestive that can cause a pretty severe coughing-fit (strong enough to cause internal damage, depending on the grade).

"After a few deep breaths, Faerevar takes out a scarf and wraps in around the lower of his face, and replies "It'll take more than Blackrot to deter this Justiciar."

A moment later, the two heard what sounded like something heavy being dragged across the floor above them.

(Dai, perception check).

[Zanaikin]

Satella hears a quiet, but impatient sigh from about 20ft behind her.

[Mr_Praetorian]

(Dai, its your turn).

Satella instantly spun around, shocked that someone could have gotten around with her noticing it.

( not much information to take a turn on, you know. )

Satella's missile fired off into the night air, connecting only with a tree a little distance from the from the tower. Afterwards, silence.

Athaulf continues to advance cautiously onward and upward.

Athaulf and Faerevar proceed, cautiously, into the room. Not long after entering, the full impact of the Blackrot hits them both...
(Judson, roll two fortitude saves).
