Adventure 1: Expedition to Castle Ravenloft/FAQ

Welcome, friends, to my new campaign! I'll be using the adventure Expedition to Castle Ravenloft as a starting point for this new roleplaying venture of mine. I realize that details are rather sparse at the moment, but I hope to have enough content up by Saturday or Sunday to more easily facilitate the character generation process. Though, if you want to start throwing builds around, go for it. Pathfinder has, after all, given us to much consider.
Now, I realize that Expedition to Castle Ravenloft has been out for awhile, and its within the realm of possibility that some of your may have already seen some or all of the entire adventure. Not to worry! I guarantee that my version will be at least twice and hellish and demanding as the published version! I've also gone through and made some changes to the storyline and characters so as to better integrate them into my world.
About that time, 'eh chaps?

Alright, so the major update I was hoping for this weekend didn't quite come about. What can I say? Worldforging isn't exactly easy.

Something to consider.
Would you rather have a custom item, or an affiliation item?

I'm more inclined to lean towards the Custom Item. It gives a character more depth.

I'm with Marty, particularly with a custom item that can evolve with the character - though probably best to avoid Item Familiars after the insanity that was Penthiae.

The custom items will be powerful, but they won't be "item familiars" as we knew them.

Good. Those got just a little nuts. Especially stuff like the XP boost.

Don't get me wrong. They will be powerful, but they'll have more in common with "Legacy Weapons" from 3.5 than Penthiae item familiars. They won't boost your XP or let you, essentially, double your spellcasting capacity. But they will scale with your level, and each one comes with a nifty, to the say the least, capstone ability.

Based on this thread and conversations I've had, I'm going to go ahead and drop affiliation items and give everyone their own custom item.
