Lastly, while the command squad was at the lair excavating, they noticed an extremely powerful residue of evil left by the war magic, which seemed to have tainted the entire area. The Airindalians say the residue will disappear in time, but one this strong will probably take a few weeks. They haven't quite seen one this powerful since the First Great Alliance War.

Of the Crusadered shattered at Blackbog, only six of them were able to be resurrected...

The battlemaster regiments ? Despite dispersing, their coordination had been shaken loose by the Earthquake and their numbers had been devastated by the Sonic Storm. Only a quarter of their numbers returned to congregate.

Altogether, the losses today included 35 golem armored crusaders, about 33% of the longbow company and 50% of the heavy weapons company. The siege-weapon emplacements of Blackbog Keep have been completely wrecked, and both the battlements and the walls have taken heavy damage.


The Crusaders also noted that after Derovarr left, the last defending orcs more or less began surrendering. However, when the lair collapsed, all of them were buried within it. Few, if any of the thousands in there, survived. Kilar pointed out that while it's possible the Imperials attacked because the collapse of the wards would signal that the orcs have deserted the lair, it's also possible they knowingly sacrificed the orcs in order to hit the Misalinians as hard as possible.

While not all of the blue draconic horde was retrieved from the buried lair, the excavation extracted about 4,000,000gps in gold and treasures that was certainly most of the horde in question.

Within less than a minute, five Airindale Sky Skiffs, each loaded with a full squad of Airindale mages, teleported into position around the Retribution. It seemed the Airindalians decided that Aelisar needs more security as long as she's out here.

In the meantime, the Imperiums steadily withdrew... into a hill... and vanished. It was the same hill that Klaus saw to be an illusion effect. Klaus then noticed the vehicles disappearing one by one from behind the illusion field - a teleportation circle is, had been raised there it seems.

The deck force shielding managed to block even more of the rays, which shattered the force walls in place (and will need recasting to repair). Only five rays made it through everything and touch the ship itself, all of them in the front deck - leaving holes where entire blocks of armor vanished. However none of turrets, missile batteries, nor the bridge had been affected.

A noticeable sigh of relief was released by a number of the mages...

The enemy vehicles and infantry in the air at the war magic's originating location seems to be falling back steadily towards the north, dropping altitude as they go.

( Needs for full scale emergency teleports - all the Assault Mages [including Samael] had to dismiss their AMF. Also require two Greater Teleport spells from the party - you don't know that place well enough to risk a normal teleport. Derovarr also needs to take off his armor I believe ).

The airspace north of the Sky Galleon was suddenly flooded by over three dozen Airindalian and Misalinians, and just in time as well, as ten sickly green columns of magical energy dispersed out from the diminishing war magic array, arced across the skies towards the Retribution, then broke into at least a hundred smaller dark green rays in a wide dispersal pattern, each with all the magical properties of a Disintegrate spell.

Ahead of you, Kovis and his two officers (whom obviously just teleported over given their slight disorientation) sent out counteracting spells of their own, but it was washed apart mercilessly by the incoming tidal wave of rays headed straight for the Sky Galleon.

Aelisar : "Sweet bre... EVERY COUNTER YOU'VE GOT !"

Volleys of disintegration rays arced out from the higher ranking Airindale ranks, while the lesser ranked tossed out single Disintegrates, Walls of Force and Prismatics, Dispels, anything they could to stop as many rays as possible. Four turrets on the Retribution swiveled about and discharged Greater Dispels of their own towards the incoming volley...

( You may attempt to put up something if you had readied an action - which I assume you did if you were not the ones making the actual teleport. And you got no time to coordinate... ).

As you head back towards the Teleportation Keep, you notice Kovis' half-squad zoom straight into it...

[ End of first round - Telecomm ] Shift : "Enemy second volley incoming, Battlemasters reports severe casualties."

As Derovarr nears the Teleportation Keep, the Airindale response unit, which seems to have been headed by Aelisar herself, has reformed near the Teleportation Keep themselves. Aelisar flew straight towards Derovarr : "Why did you send your troops back out, what's... (pause) is your raiding force under attack ?"

At that moment, Shift comms in with another message : "Second volley resisted by Retribution, missile batteries temporarily drained." ( They were using the missile batteries to intercept the firestorm shots ).

Kovis to Derovarr : "We definitely have a seriously high powered mage here. Imperium airborne vehicles sighted about 1 mile north of lair - four with accompanying infantry."

The Imperium Metaacs steadily withdrew from the Sky Galleons, with only a few of them staying around a bit longer in order to shield the Hussars as they picked up the pilots. Several of the Hussars then fired out missiles at the wreckages outside the Keep, leading to several large explosions.

Although they were not moving as fast as they did during their attack run, it was still quite a significant amount. One of their commanders asked no-body in particular over the telecomm: "How the nine hells do we catch up with those things ?"
Cary, rising up in formation with first group, responded: "Use the flame jets and mount a direct charge on them when they come around. It looks like they're keeping perimeter guard on the Keep, so go get in the way of their next pass first, rather than try chasing them down."

At over a mile of range, Klaus misses completely, or at least he thinks... he's not sure where that arrow went.

Derovarr easily evades the majority of the bursts, and whats left is merely absorbed into his Shield Generator. Afterwards, he shouts out to the crusader commanders their orders.

(The short of it: Crusades will be broken into two groups: Group 1 will be comprised of 100 Crusaders (50 a piece from from the ACR 6 and ACR 7 companies, and Group 1 will be comprise of 50 crusaders from the ACR 8 company. Group 1 advances towards the Metaacs while Group 2 hunts down the Hussars. A lot of info? Yes. But I cite the fact that these troops have been training in squad based, loose formation tactics for the majority of build-up period. Surely by now, something like this would be fairly simple.)

After that he begins to move towards the METAACS, slowly at first, to make sure everyone can form up. (Swift action activate travel devotion and move towards the METAACs 125f, and expend one TU for another swift to use moment of alacrity).

Then a moment later, objects began falling into the courtyard from the skies above and exploding. An inferno of plasma energy quickly engulfed a significant portion of the courtyard and walls for a brief second, while shrapnel also started flying in all directions as their containment bombs also burst. Between the combination of them, any unprotected light infantry who have not managed to reach cover in time was literally shredded and burnt alive under fire...

The Sky Galleon gunners did their best with the turrets that could be brought to bear as the Imperium vehicles made their single pass. Disintegrating rays lashed out at the attackers, but only two of them managed to strike true to hit its target, which instantly erased most of the vehicles in question, leaving four crew members and remaining components to fall out of the sky. However, their momentum manages to bring them clear out of the Keep (although still within long spell range, but out of Klaus' sight), and all four quickly brought their gravitonics up to keep airborne.
One of the warforged gunners had a different idea as he slammed a Solid Fog into a Hussar, stopping it in midair with its front section exposed (within medium spell range of party).

The crusaders begun to rise into the air alongside Derovarr, particularly after the bombardment as the ground just because the spot where density of fire was the greatest, and even with their heavy armor no-one intends to be caught in the area longer than they must.

After their initial attack run, the Hussars broke off into three groups which begun circling the Keep at half-mile distance out.

The Metaacs continued their lightning-fast full speed approach towards the Keep (two more rounds). At this point you notice the Metaacs were grouped in seven squads -- five squads of four each, and two squads of five which headed the group. While the Naralans noted the Metaacs for having more customizations than other Imperium vehicles, it's obvious the front two Metaacs leading the attack were the most heavily customized of the group.
Standard Metaacs, as with most of the group, were equipped with a twin-plasma-repeater and vehicular foldout blade on the right arm (with fingered-hand), a heavy cannon and shield on the left arm, two laser clusters on the head, and two defensive missile launchers on the hips. Most customizations used different models of these weapons, and sometimes a grasped vehicle-sized carbine instead of the fixed twin-repeater, but no significant changes otherwise.
Of the two Metaacs which lead the attack group, one of them had a second heavy cannon on the right arm but no sword. Meanwhile the other one carried no shield, no cannon, and no repeater; instead each arm had one foldout blade and each ended with a fingered hand grasping a vehicle-sized carbine. There were also various other less identifiable components built into them with made them stand out from the more standard models.

As the seconds begun to roll, troops began to move out of the courtyard and inner keep and onto the walls, manning their stations and preparing their siege weapons. Although most of them still confused on what exactly the situation is. The two Sky Galleons parked overhead took nearly a minute to respond, but then they begun to power up the various system which were deactivated at stand-down while moving out of the Keep's airspace...

Within a minute or so (assuming no-one objects), the command squad and three or so warmage squads lands back into the Blackbog Teleportation Keep in quick succession. It seems all is still peaceful thus far, and the troopers show no particular special sign of expecting an incoming attack. Actually they were quite cheerful to see Derovarr's return.
"Finished their sorry butts already Milord ? That was certainly a fast battle."

Telecomm to Battlemasters: Break all final pockets of enemy resistance, NO civilian casualties. Afterwards, secure the main entrance with enough troops to make a solid defense, and send any remaining troops into the forest to fortify the perimeter. There's going to be a delay in returning you all to Thatal Keep. So sit tight!

Telecomm to Shift: Command Squad is returning to Blackbog, remain cloaked, and keep in contact! Over!

"Command Squad! Prepare to teleport to Blackbog!"

(Just so there's no confusion: 30 Warmages will with grab as many crusaders as possible (of the 50 that are still airborn) and teleport back to Blackbog. Any remaining crusaders, and the other 20 warmages will help to secure the layer).

A moment later the ogre collapses onto the ground... its head and the uppermost portions of its body no longer seen.

Shift returns a simple acknowledgement over the telecomm: "Roger that".

A moment later, the warmage captain returns a message: "Sir, we're Misalin warmages, not Airindale war-wizards - our teleportation ability barely covers our own numbers, and maybe just a few additional units."

As Samael evades the flying ogre, which was too busy flinging its chain towards him than to watch its own already impaired balance, the ogre lands on the ground upon one arm with a sickening crunch, as his entire left arm was broken and crushed by the force of the throw. A plasma bolt from Teodor then rushes down seconds later, burning a hole onto its back. Yet although it was already covered with blood and gaping holes blown into its flesh, it continued to crawl towards Samael while clutching its chain with the only remaining hand... then Samael's glaive comes straight down from above and strikes through its neck, followed by a slash to the side which cuts it cleanly off the shoulders and sends the ogre head flying.
