The triple-disintegration ray struck yet another building. Similar to the last one, the lights within this building showed most beds and troops busy arming themselves, most of whom were just about to rush out the door, before the walls collapsed over atop them. A number of the soldiers inside however did escape, either by running out the door in the meantime or by flying out through the space where the walls were disintegrated.
The air trembled in the wave of the sonic bursts, and the metaacs' images were distorted for a mere second. However even as the view re-stabilized once again, Blade notices the Metaacs did not seem to be affected even in the slightest by the attack. Tiny turrets built into the Metaac's heads then opened energy fire into the oncoming missiles, which managed to destroy several of them. However even the ones that gotten through the defensive fire never made impact, as they were seemingly vanished the moment before contact could be made. In the meantime, the metaacs continued to close in towards the Edge at an impossibly fast speed ( range : ~500ft ) while spreading outwards towards the Edge's two sides as if trying to flank it from both sides ( maintaining about at least 90ft from each other ). With a simple motion of their arms, the blades folded back on the right arm of each Metaac shifted into attack position and a bluish energy film grew to coat its surface.
At that moment, Blade noticed that ten assault-mages suddenly appeared out of thin air about 200ft behind the metaac, hovering at an altitude. The leader yelled a simple "Fire!" and six emerald green rays shot from their wands towards the Edge ( AS-spellcraft : Dimensional Anchor ). Despite Blade's evasive action, three of the rays managed to make contact. At the same time two others cast a different spell ( AS-spellcraft : Solid Fog ) and the Edge suddenly found itself stuck within dense fog, all vision completely obscured and unable to see anything outside.
"Strike! let's get out of here!" Blade could hear from one of the mages.
A moment later, the Edge's touchsight sensors could no longer detect the presence of those mages.Statistics: Posted by Zanaikin — Wed Jul 23, 2008 10:43 pm
