After his meal, he procceded to stop by one of the many infirmery to talk to what reamined of the his shattered unit. Though it pained his greatly to see so few men, he felt it neccessary talk with the common soldiers. After words, he spent the day mostly walking around.

It was at dinner that he finally ran into Kati, the two of them attempted to conduct orderly convrsation, but a drunken riot soon stifeled any chance of that.

Derovarr spent the rest of the evening doing what he loved best: Forming strategies for battle he hoped to command at some point.

I'll have troops come to relieve them later. I was on my way down to meet up with the returning infiltration squad for a more detailed report from them. I'd like you there." She starts to head down the stairs, but stops and turns back to him. "Oh, and you don't have to keep your helmet on." Laughing slightly to herself, she continues down the stairs.

Just his body began to relax, orders from Commander Tiriel came over the link, and his body recomposed itself. He quickly re-donned his helm and grabbed his weapon.

"Alright men, continue moving down wall and fortifying it as needed. Set-up a standard defense formation. I also want to know the status of each unit, our total troop count, and how many wounded and dead we have. The battle may be ours, but the city still recoils from attack. Forget not, however, that this day is ours!"

After attempting to reorganize the troops, Derovarr then turned to Kati. "Situation stable. Defenses are intact. Your orders?"

Samael blasts one of the remaining ogres in the south that's engaged with the infantry. The already damaged ogre dies as the acid burns through his flesh and destroys his innards.

Kati charges past Ranmor's west side and brings her sword down upon the ogre, cleaving thru its body.

(1 ogre remaining : you guys failed to clean up properly :P)

(so the infantry does it for you!) Screaming off a battle cries of victory, the entire front two rows of heavy infantry shoved their spear into the lone remaining ogre, while his upper body was struck by bolts from several dozen crossbows. He collapses onto the floor within a sec, blood flowing across the stone ground.

The longbows stopped shooting as the enemies fled beyond effective range. All around the troops raised their weapons and shields and yelled victoriously. The day had been won by the Misalinians.

In the north, troops were still clearing out remaining pockets of enemy resistance, often being several exhausted orcs holding onto a building or barricade, fighting for their last blood. The walls had been fully retaken and secured, and there was no change of escape for those trapped within the city. Within another ten minutes or so, Lenneth spoke over the telecomm at Cary's signal that the battle was over and the last remnants of the enemy within the city exterminated. Lenneth also gave an executive order for any unit who gave chase to the enemy to withdraw. The MG has tired itself out for one day and wish to incur no more losses.

In the east, the fire from the energy beam and the Misalin catapult holy-oil shots finally died down. A deep scar, over a hundred feet in width, several miles long, and unknown depth (can't see from this angle) was carved into the land. Beyond it laid numerous supplies of the enemies and dozens of goblin siege engines, deserted as the enemy hastily made their retreat.

High Commander Lenneth Tiriel announced over the telecomm for all command-chain officers (if you were attached to the high-lvl telecomm line, which Derovar & kati are, then you're part of that) to report for a debriefing at the command center at dusk (still several hours away). Until then, everyone had their own troops to see to.

(ok, Drew & Marty, figure out what you're doing for next few hours before the debriefing. Everyone else: plan for 3 days of free-time. The scenario right now is a city that was partially-broken by siege and took extremely heavy casualties so make sure your actions are appropriate - dead bodies in the thousands in northeast portion of city, literally piled up in the streets)

The ~dozen remaining longbows on the wall held their position near the gatehouse stairs and shot several volleys out, striking and killing several of the ogres and trolls trying to run away from the battle. Meanwhile the squad of longbows what was holding the gates were rushing up the gatehouse stairs, leaving only 2 behind as sentries.

The war-wizards fly up and closer to the wall (front units 80ft west of wall, 40ft up from road - same height as the gatehouse). They launched over two dozen fireballs, which soared towards the enemy groups north of Ranmor and exploded, killing almost all of the ogre and trolls in that area (they left the three engaged w/ Ranmor alone, rearing them might hit him). Those who survived the blast, noticed the rest of their comrades are either dead or fleeing, ran down the ramps and away from the fighting.

The three near Ranmor (AC 33 = 32base +2recit +1haste -2charge), denied of a path of retreat (ramp dispelled), fought for their lives. Each of them moved 5ft back (15ft from Ranmor) and lashed out with their chains, only one of them managed to hit (19dmg).

One of the ogres south of Himlor blockading the MG infantry falls under their spears, while the other two steps back and continues to smash their chains against the infantry's tower shields. The ogre within reach of Himlor (15ft south) slings his chain towards him and misses.

Over the telecomm, Kovis reports opposing worg cavalry in full retreat. In their haste many of them stumbled through portions of the glyph minefields that were still untouched, triggering the holy storms that burnt away at their skin and taking heavy casualties. Kovis' heavy cavalry was unable to keep up with the worgs, but he led his elite squad of pegasi cavaliers in pursuit, slashing and spell-blasting the fleeing worg squads.

In the north, infantry forces under Cary and Lenneth has reclaimed the NE city walls and are now eradicating isolated groups of orcs still within the city and on the walls.

Talence moves upwards by 40ft from the Clarion, watched the retreating longbows. He quickly casts Inspirational Boost before yelling after them "The gods bless us in this fight! The enemy is in full retreat and victory is in sight!" he points his sword towards the east "hold fast this last moment and the day shall be ours!". Talence then proceeds his rally into a battle-chant (Inspire Courage raised to +4, courageous rally effect, 1d20+13 = 21 rally)

Three slices and a well placed thrust later, one of the trolls fell, giving Derovarr a clear view of the retreating enemy army. "Forward my brothers! Drive them back!" He said, once again raoaring over the pitched havoc of the day's battle. Calling upon all those around him advance with him, as he swung his halberd into the other troll. (Initiating Clarion Call).

Enemies were still running up the wall's ramps, although in less numbers as more units began to notice the routing troops and followed them, fleeing the battle towards the east. On the walls, the remaining longbows retreated south at full speed. Despite being elite troops, their morale could no longer hold after taking over 60% losses. Only the squad blockading the gate was still maintaining their position, firing volley after volley into foes impeded by the arcane spell effects.

In the east, the war-wizards took off into the air, flying about 20ft up and 100ft east of the wall. From that direction they let loose a volley of acid arrows which hit ogres and trolls across the wall. In the south, the MG were stopped short of the fourth ramp by several ogres defending it.

The two trolls near Himlor steps up over to attack him (Dolch still nowhere in sight). Himlor manages to dodge four claw attacks with relative ease. One of the ogres to his south walks north to attack Himlor with its chain, but also misses.

Two trolls north of Derovar notices him and leaps into the air towards him. However both misses Derovar as they came down near him.

EDIT:

Over the telecomm another message came through from the infiltration squad: "Enemy units are in full retreat, survivors from second wave are in complete rout. Permission to engage targets of opportunity!"

(Himlor is to the south by ~30-40ft, you're charging north if you're going to take out the nearest ogre that's a threat to longbows. Actively making a spot check (in contrary to reactively making one) requires a move or standard action - that's why Quick Reconnoiter is one of my favorite feats)

As for Rallying Strike, stances count as maneuvers for prereqs, and the maneuver itself actually does if you retrain at a maneuver swap level, at least I think that was the CustServ interpretation...I can redo them if you want...)

The troops from both sides are utterly shocked by the strange occurance. The Misalin troops began fighting with renewed vigor, believing that it was the wrath of the gods towards vile foes who dare attack the faithful. The commanders encouraged this idea and rallied their troops in the name of Pelor and Heironeous. The enemy forces however were horrified by the display of power that wiped out over 5,000 in mere seconds. Those on the gatehouse could see the most of the non-engaged ogre and trolls units break ranks and rout, fleeing towards the east. Those attacking the walls seems to be too preoccupied to notice what was happening behind them.

On the walls, the struggle between the MGE longbows and the ogres continued. The longbows took another dozen losses and began retreating towards the south, leaving a section of the wall (100 to 200ft north of the wall overran by foes) as nearly a dozen more ogres and trolls ran up the ramp. In the south, the MG heavy infantry rushed forth to blockade another ramp, but taking heavy losses in the process from the ogres' wide sweeping chains. Several officers could be seen and heard shouting within the infantry formation, trying desperately to keep the soldiers fighting and urging them forward.

The voice over the telecomm had stopped and silence fell for a few seconds (shock from the events) before picking back up, each unit reporting their situation. In the north, the infantry regiments are pushing the scattered remnants of the enemy first wave from the city and back towards the walls. The few enemy survivors that remained and were all heavily injured and exhausted from their frenzied assault. The three MG regiments also took crippling losses, but managed to keep up the pressure thanks to its commanders and supporting casters.

Further north, Kovis' cavalry managed to regroup near the walls. Meanwhile the troops on the walls managed to persuade the goblin worg cavalry to turn back with hails of crossbow bolts and a few tactical fireballs. Kovis reorganized his remaining cavalry into a thin but long double lined formation before charging back towards the retreating worgs.

After some time of silence, the infiltration group reports again over the telecomm: "This is the infiltration squad, we managed to get out of that energy beam... barely. The enemy reserves behind the second wave are retreating! I repeat, enermy reserves in retreat!"

(back to action on the gatehouse walls)

In the south, one trolls goes after Himlor (AC 45) and lunged for him with their claws but misses, while the other trolls leaps into the towards him and strikes him (Death from Above, near crit, 31dmg) behind landing 30ft to his south. In the meantime, 1 troll and 1 ogre rushes up the ramp.

EDIT (Forgot Marty dispelled the north ramp)

In the north, the remaining ogre steps towards his side and smashes into Ranmor (AC 38) with his chain (29dmg).

Derovarr continued his run back up the stairs. When he finally did make it up to the top (which I should, since i'm using a run action), he arrived just in time to witness the great beam of energy cutting through the oncoming wave, and back through other enemy forces. At first he was filled with a sense of relief for the effects would lighten the burden on the frontline troops. Then, he realized what the implications of this were: It was going to be an interesting three days.

Lucklily the intensity of the battle was enough to quickly shake him form his stupor (or maybe that was the rock). He quickly advanced over to the nearest squad of archers (switching bloodthirsty commander to coordinative commander) and began to reorganize the few remaining soldiers into groups that could focus on individual enemies (standard action: aid another).
"Form individual squads focusing on each ramp! Let the elites handle the melee! For the Gods and Misalin!" (Rally Check: 1d20+22+1d8 (action point)= 41)

(yeah... turns out I'd been miscalculating damage that whole time. Turns out my caster level for fire spells is 16. But, Flamestrike caps at 15d6, so yeah.)
