Manizei raises her rifle, shifting to a less immediately aggressive posture before she calls out.
"Excuse me!" She calls, apparently deciding to start off polite. "We mean you no harm and would just like to talk. We're here to look for someone, no more. May we come in?"

Niles readies to fire at the first hostile looking thing that comes through the door.

No response. What do you do?

"Then I will come in," Manizei calls, walking forwards. "Please don't react badly."

A large metal table is surrounded by odd-looking chairs in this room. To the west, a large transparent wall looks out over the desert valley below. Four pillars support the 15-foot-high ceiling, while dozens of crude images of a pickaxe made of a skull and bones have been painted on the walls with some sort of ivory pigment, along with extensive writing in an unfamiliar language. (No, it's not Androffan.)

One of the chairs has an access card on it, which is black, unlike the brown ones you're working with now. Of more concern to you, however, is behind you and to the right, where there is an ominous chuckle followed by pain! (four attacks: 8, 5,miss, 7, for 20 damage total.)

It would appear that the occupant of the room has managed to get the drop on Manizei with his? masterful sneaking skills. He appears to be a creature much like the skeletons in the desert, but with sickly green-tinged flesh, and with four arms and two swords (also two slam attacks) with which he has wrought terrible harm on the nice paladin. Are you guys going to stand for that?

Thought not. Roll initiative!

Cradling her rifle in one hand, Manizei puts her hand to her chest, concentrating for a moment. Then, she spins and fires at whatever has just attacked her.
