Fires of Creation, Part III

"To hide from the skeletons, I suppose?" Manizei muses quietly to herself as she follows after the others.

The metal room beyond the door is brightly lit by glowing panels in the ceiling above. To the left and right, complex machines consisting of spiral tubes and nozzles twitch and hum. Indeed, it looks just like the biolock you came in through.

Perception checks, please.

It becomes quite apparent that this biolock's machinery has not weathered the millenia nearly as well as the other's has. In fact, you have about 3 rounds before an explosive electrical discharge hits everything in the room for great damage. Unless, of course, everyone's already on the other side or the trap is disarmed.

What do you do?

"Everyone stand back!" Niles shouts, moving towards the sparky bits with his tools at the ready.

"Behind me!" Manizei snaps, slowly easing backwards, attempting to both get away from the trap and get between it and the others - excluding Niles, who's a bit busy right nnow.

It's a pretty close call, but Niles manages to pop open a panel and reroute the device's power to the nearby fire suppression system. Just as the malfunctioning sterilizer builds up a critical charge, sparks dancing about everywhere... it fizzles out harmlessly. And the sprinklers come on. 400 xp.

Beyond the door on the other end of the room is a dark metal hallway that ends in another door. The hallway itself turns to the right, then left again to proceed to parts as-yet unknown. The door appears locked, and has a slot on the side marked with a square of what appears to be brown paint.

"Non-magical fire suppression... wondrous!" Niles exclaims as the group stands there, in the "rain"...

Peering down the corridor, Niles pulls out his brown card before turning to the rest of the group.

"Shall we?"

Enlali nods and pulls her brown card out as well.

[Sajuuk]

Harskgun nods in agreement.

With the application of an access card, the door slides right open. The air in the room beyond seems to buzz and hum with energy. Strips of glowing rectangles light the room from above, while strange flickering windows line the east and west walls. A large, glass-topped, circular table sits in the middle of the room. To the north sits a large metal desk covered with blinking lights, while a humming pillar of purple-and-black metal stands nearby, its sides flashing with tendrils of violet energy. A single golden panel flashes with a soft but incessant light on the side of the pillar. A thick layer of dust coats everything, diffusing the lights shining from the various surfaces, and many of the rooms machines appear to be, to put it nicely, in a state of extreme disrepair.

What do you do?

Niles heads for the glowing panel to see if he can make sense of it.
