Fires of Creation, Part III

Everyone makes it through without incident, except Enlali. When she enters the chamber, the drone closes the doors and the room activates. Soft golden light suffuses the chamber, and the nozzles on the machines on either side of the room begin to emit some sort of spray as well. This lasts for about a minute, before it ceases and the doors open. You suffer no ill effects from this; indeed, you feel better than you have in ages. (See character thread.)

Based on its demonstrated effects, the talk of "decontamination," and what's waiting for you on the other side (more on that in a bit), you are able to determine that what's on the other side of this biolock is, or was, some sort of controlled environment, and the room and its machinery were meant to prevent said environment from being exposed to foreign contaminants. It appears able to produce an effect similar to remove disease. Due to its damaged state, it probably can't do this very often, (Niles knows enough to estimate once per day) but it may prove very helpful indeed.

The room beyond the biolock has stone walls, in contrast with the metal you've encountered thus far, and it does not appear to be the same type of stone as that in the cave network you just came from. The exit to the north looks just like a normal cave mouth, leading into a vast sandy cavern. Indeed, the only thing artificial-looking about this room is the gray metal door you enter through, and the toolbox next to it. Said toolbox is locked, but you have a more pressing concern: the horse-sized, tentacled monstrosity shaking the sand off its carapace and preparing to feed.

Enlali touches the pocked, flaking skin on her left arm, taking in her slightly revitalized state briefly before turning her attention to the monster ahead.

Niles has heard tales of the Ghelarn, a mysterious creature Not Of This World (TM) which is said to secrete entrapping fluids around itself and feed upon those caught by said fluids. Said to be able to hibernate for vast amounts of time when food is scarce, it is not inconceivable that this creature survived the Rain of Stars, and was awakened by the passage of previous expeditions.

The ghelarn moves toward the party, its porous white carapace giving the impression of an ambulatory rock formation. It stops short of the party and sits there, but close inspection reveals it to be secreting some manner of fluid from its lower body.

Manizei, Niles, and Enlali need to give me Fortitude saves.
