Then, since you brought it up, whom would you propose has the power, foresight, and influence, to take this seat?"

"I can appreciate that we are all of different elements here. But, if this great experiment in "Exiles in Solidarity" is to continue, then we're going to need a definitive leader. We've won a notable victory here, and we did it as individual clans working together. However admirable this is though, eventually the weight of entire clans, perhaps more than one at a time, will be arriving to challenge us. Then, our same individuality will be the death of us; lacking a single guiding force, we'll crumble.

We need a leader."

"Of course, that's why we captured and held the armory," responded Yuzuru in agreement, "we need the equipment to arm as many as possible and to start drilling them immediately; it would be best if we could train them as auxiliaries to free up our warriors' defensive and fire support duties."

"Ummm... if that's the case, there's also six ballistae mounted on the north towers that maybe we could remove and use..." Wolf Fang advisor Hibiki Sanae tentatively suggested.

"That would make the start of our siege equipment," Ryouma stated, "we'll need more--- siege ladders and maybe rams."

"We can take care of all that," Zanma Rouga declared, volunteering his tribe for the job. "Will be raiding the nearby countryside for supplies though."

Yuzuru simply shrugged his shoulders; no one else replied with any objections to that.

"The crossbows will also be distributed between the Wolf Fangs and the Kyoudou band, since they have our best marksmen to train the new people; the spears will be evenly distributed based on the number of people in each group." Ryouma said before she looked around for any signs of objection before continuing...

"One last thing--- I mentioned during the planning before the battle that there is a certain artifact in this keep that maintains the ward on the Shikoku wall. The strange thing is--- we've yet to find that..."

"What does it matter, now that we're out of that shithole?" Idagawa Ren interjected, "it's not our business to keep the ward working."

"Unless we want the oni to break out from Shikoku and continue their attacks on us, yes, I think it does matter, quite a lot in fact," retorted Yuzuru, "it's just as important for us to contain the oni as those before us."

"Do we know what this... artifact, even looks like?" asked Aya of the Kongomaru, "the only thing I've heard is that it's suppose to be a map of sorts."

"That's all I've heard as well," replied Ryouma. A few other people in the circle shrugged without a clue, while Hibiki Sanae and Zanma Gou from the Wolf Fangs only nodded their heads.

Yuzuru then continued: "Either way, I just wanted people to know before they burn down or tear apart the keep. I'm sure everyone else is as tired of those damned oni as I am. Now, if there's anything else..."

[ anything to say before meeting ends for now... ]

"...the immediate next step is simple," Ryouma answered, "we rest here, at the keep, and dispatch more messengers throughout Shikoku. We must get more warbands to join our cause; the greater our numbers, the greater our chances of success."

"But is that good idea to give our enemies time to respond?" asked Zanma Gou, advisor to the Wolf Fangs. "How about we strike out at the enemy now, to seize land before they can react while a light garrison is left at this keep to await more reinforcements."

While Ryouma thought to formulate a good response, Yuzuru answered: "we could certainly do that for some of the villages closer to Shikoku, but that wouldn't go very far. To seize the land, we must strike out at the major castles themselves, but I think we're still tad short-manned for that one."

"Strike fast, strike hard. They won't be expecting us now," said Zanma Rouga with a smirk. His lieutenant Jinnai Heita then raised one fist in agreement: "there's no reason for real men to hesitate at a moment like this!" He stared about the room in challenge as he declared, before his eyes settled on Ryouma.

Ryouma's face didn't change a bit, and she quickly began to speak to cut off Yuzuru, who wasn't even attempting to hide his annoyance and anger. "Because of our unexpected speed in taking this keep, a number of the soldiers managed to flee before our full force could be brought to cut off their retreat." Many in the room turned their gaze towards the Blackhearts' reps with a mixture of awe, (re)assessment, and annoyance in their eyes. But Ryouma continued without pause: "the defeated troops will no doubt warn the nearby garrisons, and even if we were to strike now they would be halfway ready. They won't have adequate preparations for defense, but we won't have any preparations at all, not even scaling ladders. There's no way we can take any fortified position without even some equipment. It would be folly to think otherwise."

"So--- we'll just wait here, gather additional allies, train up our men, and prepare siege equipment, until a better opportunity arrives?" asked Aya of the Kongoumaru band, her eyes scanning across those gathered rather than actually expecting an answer.

Yuzuru responded with a firm and grateful 'yes'.

"Training, for certain," said Tenrou Kunagi of the Wolf Fangs, whose face showed not a trace of emotion despite the harsh words that followed: "the past battle has shown in evidence that some of our men are incapable of following orders and plans. We walk into a real battle half-heartedly like this, our lines would be crushed whether they're man or animal." She ended her line with a cold glare of her own towards Heita.

[ break point, if anyone is interested in cutting in... ]

Katsurou found several locked boxes, which he cracked open with his glaive, revealing some gold/silver pieces, and some other exchangeable personal valuables lying about, although most of the other tools and living equipment are just standard stuff for troops (maybe a bit more shoddy than usual, everything is pretty poorly maintained). He does find, in what appears to be a meeting room, a highly-detailed drawing made from multicolored ink; it depicts some high-ranking Hojo mage with a 3-dimensional map of the Shikoku region right in front of him.

Loots for the Blackhearts (plus Yuuta):
seven katanas (three +0, four +1)
seven daggers (three +0, three +1, one +3)
six sets of Scale Mail armor (three +0, three +1) - (the armors will need some repairing spells though)
*(you also find a 4th set of +1 Scale Mail that has a tag on it: "claimed; duel me if you think you deserve it more - Kawanoe Yuzuru"; he returned to get it by the time Katsurou returns, if someone has objections)
a silver pocketwatch, imported

gold/silver/othervaluables: wealth score rises to +11, or +12 if you're already +11 (no bonuses if higher).

With the support of his brother and his sword, Daichi managed to stand back up and made a somewhat pained smile towards Katsurou: "Not a problem, sir; just a light wound."

The sight of Terasaka draining the life from some Mouri conscript coming from just outside the northern gate attracted a little bit of attention; it wasn't much different from some of the strange curses these deathlanders have seen, but it was still a horrific scene to see the bloodsoaked warrior feast on another human. From the grimaces made by a number of the Shikoku warriors, one could easily tell that quite a few of them just made a mental note to avoid becoming this man enemy as much as possible.
( Judson: you drain 6MP from the soldier... which probably puts you back up to full since only 2 days have passed since game start. )

As more and more troops arrived, those inside the keep scattered out and began to clean up after the battle, looting whatever they find from the dead (give me a Perception(search) check if you want to join them, you get bit of a headstart xD). Yuzuru and his lieutenants went around to the different leaders, requesting them to meet in the keep's barracks' main hall for a meeting in three hours.

A couple of healers were also going around healing battle injuries (HP damage only); one of them closed the wounds on Daichi's leg and said it should heal properly in one or two days...

After Katsurou sprays more blood on the west line, the spearmen backed away for a few steps, then completely routed. The officer cut down one of the fleeing troops but the rest didn't even hesitate. Faced with no-one to shield him from the two blood-drenched Deathlanders, he ran away in the same direction as his troops... (Drew/Judson: AoO on nearby troops if want)

Yuuta's axe then cuts apart the officer on the easter flank. The soldiers behind him stepped back once; they held, barely, thanks to the one remaining officer behind them and the Hojo troops keeping the line...

Ryouma led Group A south along the east wall by 20ft or so, then hurled their weapons at the crossbowmen. Three went down instantly, while the last two and their commander was injured. They took their last shots with their hands shaking in desperation, but only one bolt managed to hit a member of Group A, and only injured him at that...

The archers and spears remaining on the northern wall, about 20 or so, also realized that the battle was a complete loss and rushed down the western stairs to flee before the north gate could be cut off.

As the Hojo mages chanted, the four Hojo samurai in the front steeled their nerves and charged straight at Yuzuru (while the two in the back shifted to cover the gap). This proved to be the worst idea when Yuzuru yelled aloud with anguish and then cut three of them with a single swing of his sword, while the fourth was knocked to the ground by his comrades' body(parts)--- just on Katsurou's right.

"re-re-retreat, RETREAT!" stammered one of the mages, who immediate broke off his spell and fled the other way. The three others at least finished their spells, creating another 15 shikigami attack birds which flew up into the sky before turning around, then withdrew north, their rear covered by the four remaining samurai and the last of the courtyard soldiers. (Dave: AoO if want)

25 "birds" dived towards the Shikoku warriors, but as the vanguard rushed up to cover Group B, the birds survived little more than a few seconds before they were cut back down to pieces of scrap paper. They had delayed the warband for a few seconds, but that was more or less it. Mine then led the seven members of her squad straight into the twenty who were coming down from the north walls; some of them tried to surrender--- they still didn't last more than a few seconds (although another allied casualty was taken). Ryouga and a few sprinters dashed out the gate and chased down several men who were trying to flee; the Wolf Fangs were true to their name: they really were predators who went after their prey till the end.

In the span of a few minutes, more than 80 people had been killed in the courtyard of the Shikoku gate keep. Puddles of blood dotted the ground; a body could be found every few feet in the courtyard center, many of them smashed apart with bodyparts and entrails littering the ground around them; the warriors of Group A were particularly drenched in crimson... more than a few blasphemied as the main force finally arrived, although quite a few also went along the lines of "well shit, didn't leave anything for us?"

( anyone who have last minute actions they want to carry out at the end of battle or join in hunting the stragglers post it; I shall be posting postbattle stuff later ).

Yuuta cuts apart one of the paper birds that flew at him and dodged the other two's attack.

Terasaka's halberd cuts the soldier in front of him in two, sending two separate bodyparts (and a whole lot of blood and gore) back onto the two soldiers behind him, one of whom toppled over when the cut torso struck him... the other one (E12) took a second before he dropped his spear and yelled, his unfocused eyes clearly indicating that he just entered shock from the bloody entrails that now covered him.

The three footman opposing Katsurou took a step back, then simultaneous broke aside and ran as one (one of them even dropped his spear in progress). On the right wing, Yuuta cuts down another, while Yumiko releases another arrow, which this time did strike the wounded enemy officer and killed him. It was the last straw--- the entire first line immediately broke, every member running for their lives towards the north gate; the second line's right flank (your left) did as well, while their left side just barely held as their officer threatened to cut down anyone who withdrew...

Yuzuru then stepped up to Katsurou's right, looked at him with a smirk, and readied his stance towards the Mouri soldiers who were running away and the Hojo warriors running up to replace them...

The two archer squads on the north wall sent out another volley, this time at the Indep/Yuuta/Daichi/Daisuke line; Yuuta easily evaded four shots aimed at him, but the others had to frankly block and parry the arrows as they could...

(Edit): On the west side, the officer yelled his orders, and the six spearmen of the first line charged Katsurou at once. The first three were cut down by a single swing of Katsurou's readied glaive, while the other three attacks were evaded.

In the meantime, the Hojo squad also charged up, including eight samurai and four mages. The Hojo diviners then each tossed several pieces of paper into the air, which promptly reanimated into two dozen small shikigami birds, each with a disproportionally long and extremely sharp beak, which then charged into combat: four at Katsurou, and three each at Yuuta's line. Yuzuru cut down all four aimed at Katsurou with two swings of his blade. Daichi and Daisuke each managed to cut down a bird, but while Daisuke evaded/blocked both, Daichi's right leg had been pierced by one of them and he collapsed on his one good leg (still alive but seriously wounded)... meanwhile, the Indep on the left was cut through by two birds and toppled to the ground. The shikigami then flew back up into the sky, swinging around for a second charge...

On the east wall, Ryouma and Group A made it up the ramp, cut down the only two spearmen guarding it, and then turn about. The crossbow squad gave a hurried, scattered volley, but they were so shaken that most of them missed horribly. One lucky bolt however did nail one of the leading members of Group A straight in the face.
( Marty, you can either move up the ramp with them or try to make an attack on this side, but the enemy would be protected by light battlements )

( The vanguard, numbering about two dozen and led by Wolf Fang leader Zanma Rouga and Yuzuru's sister Kawanoe Mine, just entered the southern gateway )

( Dave: all three of the birds attacking you provoke AoOs from you )

Katsurou's charge rammed the blade of his glaive straight through the enemy. He then whirled it to the side, virtually cutting two more spearmen in halves at the waist, while hurling the body impaled on his glaive back and to the ground. None of the three will ever stand again.

Daichi and Daisuke then charged up to the enemy's left flank on Yuuta's right, while the Indep went up to Yuuta's left. They dodged the spears of their distracted opponents will little hassel and struck with their weapons, although only Daisuke's attack hit the mark and downed his enemy.

The officers and soldiers knocked down by the fireball then stood back up, yelling at their troops to stay in line. Shigeru's dagger then flew out and nail a direct hit on one of the officers' faces, who collapsed again like a sack of meat without another word. Yumiko also took aim and shot at the other officer, but one of the spearmen in front was hit instead and collapsed from the wound.

Meanwhile, Yuzuru charged up to Katsurou's right, and one swing of his blade put two more spearmen down. The enemy's forward line had been completely broken at the center... their morale was on the verge of breaking, and even though the rear line's officer shouted at his men to advance to fill the hole, they refused to take more than just a few steps forward...

Ryouma, on the other hand, shouted "Group A! with me!" then charged off towards the east side of the keep, straight towards a ramp that went up the walls... the crossbow squad had re-locked onto her group only a second prior, probably not to take chances with another possible blaster mage in the midst; a volley of bolts flew out, and one of Group A's members went down...

( to the North, the Hojo squad has reached the gates ~60ft away )
( to the South, the vanguard of Group C, numbering about 2 dozen, were just seconds away from the gateway [they'll be up in another 2 turns] )
( to the West, the enemy still inside the barracks finally exitted, forming up 2 lines of nine and ten [first line on map]; these are presumably the last group of enemies to show themselves )

( next: Marty, Judson )

[EDIT: Judson is actually in J14 (next to Shigeru) at the moment... forgot to update his position <.< ]

Two officers yelled out 'fire' from the northern walls, and a hail of arrows and bolts launched themselves straight into the center of the battle at Terasaka. He swerved with lightning reflexes, evading an unbelievable number of shots, while parrying off one arrow as well as blocking another bolt, the only two projectiles that could have struck him. Two spearmen then stepped up, and the seven within reach of them thrusted out towards him while he was busy evading the attacks from above. Despite everything, Terasaka's inhuman speed still managed to evade three of the spears and parried off the remaining four with his halberd.

Another one of them came to the side and attacked Yuuta but missed.

The officers behind the spearmen shouted in encouragement: "they're pulling back! keep pushing! drive those monsters back to the wastelands where they belong!" The spear line in the front advanced 10ft up, while the last groups of soldiers remaining in the courtyard center formed two more lines behind them and marched forward - one spear and one crossbow.

The three shields (Daichi/Daisuke/Indep) pulled back 20ft and to the side, while Yuzuru cut apart the spearmen facing him and then drew back 20ft himself. Yumiko did similarly, but not before releasing the arrow she had been aiming, which flew into the enemy's spear line but glanced off one of the officer's armor.

Most of Group A launched a barrage of shots, downing another three spearmen, before pulling back themselves... except for one person. With all the attention focused on the front, nobody even noticed that that he hadn't even been doing much of anything for the last fifteen-odd seconds. But just as Group A withdrew from around him, he hurled his closed fist forward, and the hidden fireball he had been preparing erupted from his hands and flew into the center of the enemy's three lines...

The explosion consumed the entire middle line (crossbows) and the centers of the two spear lines. Over a dozen infantrymen and four officers were blasted outwards. The officers all managed to survive, although heavily wounded and their armor smoking from the heat burst; but only four infantrymen groaned from the ground... the rest of those still standing reeling in shocked from the magic attack that none of them had seen coming.

The crossbowmen on the east walls quickly refocused their aim towards the caster, although he wasn't stupid enough to hang around either and ran straight back towards the gates...

In the north, the gate were beginning to open fully, and from between the gaps one could see a team of just over a dozen rushing towards the keep. A warrior at the head of the column carried the Hojo flag--- it was probably a patrol team that just happened to be in the area (they were ~2 turns away from the combat area).

The spearman to Terasaka's left manages to block Katsurou's attack with his haft, but only lived two seconds longer before Yuzuru rushed up and cut him apart with his long blade. The one to the right tried to block Yuuta attack, but failed (barely) and was killed in one hit.

The three-man shield 'line' then pushed up to just behind Katsurou, Yuuta, and Yuzuru; while Yumiko and the Group A members moved up another 10ft before firing several arrows and bolts, taking down another three spearmen. Only three of the eight that charged Terasaka still lived, and an officer behind them rallied (more like just yelled) at them to spread to the sides and keep fighting, but it was obvious their morale was on the verge of breaking as well...

Nevertheless, two more lines of spears managed to form up behind Terasaka, each with another samurai officer behind them. While the first line of seven simultaneously charged at Terasaka (another Circle Attack), the second line of ten advanced up 10ft and took a defensive stance in front of the officers. Of the three already facing Terasaka, two of them (in the front, 1 in reach of Katsurou and one near Yuuta) simply took guarded stances, while one of them thrusted towards Terasaka as his comrades charged in... furthermore, a crossbowmen squad of about six that formed a line on the eastern wall also fired a focused volley to cover the charge.

(you also notice that there's another two squads of archers on the northern wall who lined up to take aim at you guys; the battlements were lighter facing the inside, but still provided them considerable cover...)

Terasaka managed to dodge all six bolts, then parried off one spear, dodged two more, and then blocked another three with his halberd. But the concentrated attack from so many was overwhelming his defenses and the last two spears struck home.

Attack2: (18 piercing damage)

"Fucking hell, what is that ugly bastard thinking..." cursed Yuzuru audibly, but he still followed the others by charging towards Katsurou's right (10ft away), his long-edged nodachi swung with brutal power and instantly cut down another three men.

The first line of spears, their officer killed and their numbers reduced to just 3 (one badly wounded) from the original 8, immediately broke as those alive fled into the mass of troops. The line of crossbowmen, under their leader's orders, also fell neatly back into the crowd of troops [a retreat order], except for the two on the flank that was near Terasaka who saw their comrades pulling back and scrambled to rush along...
(Drew: the badly wounded one provokes an AoO from you)
(Judson: each of the two crossbowmen provokes an AoO from you)

The three shielded members of Group B rushed up to take their positions behind Katsurou, while Yumiko launched her arrow against the retreating crossbow commander--- it went straight into his back, but he only staggered for a few steps before continuing.

Ryouma was also cursing the development, apparently no one planned on charging straight into the keep. Nevertheless she rushed up to behind the men of Group B and beckoned the rest of Group A to follow. Most of them did, stopping 15ft short of Katsurou himself and taking aim (or readying) with their ranged weapons...

Heeding the call of one of the samurai officers (probably the highest ranked one) in the center of the mass of troops in the courtyard, eight spearmen, some already near and some charging up, attacked Terasaka in quick succession [Katsurou recognizes it as a Circle Attack order]. He managed to evade the first 5 attacks, parried off the 6th, but the last two spears pierced straight towards him...
Attack7: (21 piercing damage)
Attack8: (28 piercing damage, Fort (DC = damage dealt) or receive left arm injury [-2 STR & DEX]).

Terasaka's charge completely took the enemy by surprise. Before the samurai could even react, the halberd had penetrated through his body and then tossed him aside. One of the spearmen thrusted out at Terasaka as he rushed towards the edge of the crossbowmen line, but he evaded the attack...

Now that Terasaka is through the gateway, he notices that the 50ish men gathered in the courtyard is probably less than half the garrison. There were at least another 50 scattered across the walls and the northern gate of the keep (some wielding spears but most wielding bows/crossbows), and possibly more inside the barracks next to the eastern wall (~60ft to the right)... those on the northern gate of the keep were also shouting out 'ATTACK', except it was towards the other side of the outer gate (which were just barely open).

With the gateway secured, most of Group A got out of their camouflaged dugouts and moved up to behind Group B, although more to the side so they can avoid any ranged fire that goes through and use the walls as cover. One of the mages also began to cast a spell, probably to conjure something to brace and keep the gates open with as originally planned...

40ft on the other side of the gateway, two of the squads finally assembled: a line of 8 spearmen in the front, with their samurai commander on the left flank; another line of 10 crossbow behind them, with their samurai commander on the right flank. The crossbowmen were also kneeling down and preparing for a volley... and the spear lines behind them were still being formed (or attempting to).

Daichi and Daisuke brought their shields to bear on Katsurou's right side, with the extra independent to their right side and anchored to the wall. Yumiko moved up to 15ft behind Katsurou and took aim at the enemy ranks...

As screams of 'fire' quickly turned to 'enemy attack', the rest of the enemies all tossed aside their containers and pulled out their weapons, if they had them--- which three did not and promptly turned around to dash back into the gate (Judson: AoO)

The five others however all encircled Terasaka and thrusted out with their spears; but their accuracy was horrible and Terasaka easily evaded all but one of the strikes, while he batted aside with his halberd...

[ Currently: all 5 enemies at the gate within reach of Terasaka, 1 within reach of Katsurou with a second one step away ]

Yuzuru also followed Yuuta up...

There were currently at least fifty soldiers and officers (easily noticeable by their proper samurai armor) in the courtyard on the other side of the gateway (about another 40ft away), and although slower to react than most soldiers they were nevertheless starting to regroup. Most of them were ashigaru light infantry armed with spears, but one squad of ten were crossbow armed.

Shigeru's dagger strikes one of the guards still dazed by the enemies who suddenly erupted before him, and two shurikens also flew in on the same man, who crumbled to the ground after receiving the two hits.

Terasaka rushes straight up near the gateway with absurd speed, halberd at the ready and three foes in reach--- who were still busy tossing aside their water buckets and trying to pull out their weapons; one of them then realize that he had forgotten his spear...

Katsurou also runs up there to within 10ft of the gateway area (and 1 enemy in reach, also threatened by Terasaka)...

It had been a long night, and many of the warriors hardly slept more than but two or three hours, but even then not a single able body wanted to change the plan. Last night had already shown how dangerous it is for large numbers of people to gather at one place, and the attackers' numbers will only increase from now...

[ Marty: you'll need to burn another Camouflage spell ]

Group A had prepared hiding spots for themselves and Group B before dusk came, then after all the groups entered their positions, they set fire to all the flammables garbage that had been piled up under the Keep's walls. Within minutes, hundreds of pounds of trash were alight with flames, and a wall of smoke clouded the entire keep's front walls while the heat of the flames assaulted the battlements. Shouts of fire soon came about, and it didn't take long for the entire keep to quite go into a panick.

...and as Ryouma predicted, the gate soon opened, and a rabble of the shoddiest soldiers one could imagine poured out with buckets and two wheelbarrows. At only 30ft's distance away from the gate itself, Ryouma waited about fifteen seconds, until the first soldiers began looking suspiciously at their camouflaged positions, before shouting out:

"ATTACK! LAUNCH THE ATTACK! TAKE THE GATE AND JAM IT NOW!!!"

Group A had been ready for that; they've been aiming at their targets, and an initial volley of arrows, shurikens, and daggers downed seven enemies - half the targets shown, including two of the wheelbarrow pushers at the gate...

Meanwhile, over a hundred warriors suddenly charged over the ridge to the south, shouting battle cries of various varieties as they came...

[ Initiatives and begin actions; if you had a buff spell you wanted to set, cast it--- 3 rounds at least would have passed on the duration already though. ]
[ Objective: take the gate and hold it until the main force arrives (eta 10 rounds)]
[ Gateway: 10ft deep and 25ft wide ]

[ as per plan, Group A, lead by Ryouma and including Shigeru, will be providing support fire; they were about 30ft away from the Gateway ]
[ Group B, lead by Katsurou and including Terasaka, Yuuta, Yuzuru, Daichi, Daisuke, Yumiko, +1 independent, will take the main defensive role ]
[ Group B's position were moved closer than planned, to 150ft away from the Gateway, where there were currently 8 enemies scattered about, still dazed with water buckets in hand ]

It took a while before several of the leaders came over; those awake right now must have been on the other side of the camp where the 'main attack' took place...

Kawanoe Yuzuru nodded at Katsurou's request before he turned around and looked over the other leaders standing around him. It was obvious that none of them wanted that job---
"...and everybody had already been assigned to groups huh? Well, it looks like no one is willing to go along? ---- in that case..." Yuzuru turned back around and smirked at Katsurou: "looks like you'll just have to deal with--- me!"

Yuzuru's lieutenants were shocked speechless for a second, and just as Ryouma was about to speak, Yuzuru raised his hand to cut off any objections from behind him.
"All my men were assigned out to separate squads already, and everyone has their orders as it is. So I'm the only one available... how about it, Blackheart?"

Based on the noise, it appears the fighting on the other side of camp has already finished, and many of the warriors were already starting to return to their tents, hoping to rest the final few hours before the assault... one of the healers examined the three who were struck by the oni and only shook their head--- because of the raw strength behind their fists, few humans could survive a direct hit by the oni (even the lesser blue ones) and survive, not when a single punch had the power to shatter entire ribcages...

The one remaining (unnamed) independent and Daichi struck back against the blues they're fighting, which were starting to get seriously injured but still had some fight left. Daisuke however went on full defense as three blues on the right wing began to surround him. Somehow by sheer luck (and willpower) he managed to guard all of their attacks... before the reinforcements arrived.

An arrow first flew in to pierce the rightmost blue oni in the torso, then seven warriors charged in, and five separate spears completely skewered the rightmost blue, who went limp within seconds. Two other warriors with shields and swords in hand went up to help cover Daichi and Daisuke against the three blues still remaining...

[current status: left wing has 2 blues remaining (10ft b/t them) with the independent fighting one (also 10ft away from Yuuta) and Terasaka fighting the other; Katsurou is fighting a critically wounded red in the center that's about to fall any second [you can step up to cleave the newest blue fighting Daichi]; and 3 blues still remaining on the right wing but is about to get overwhelmed by the 9 allies going against them]

One of the blues on the right wing reshifted his focus towards Kasumi, who disrupted one of the attacks aimed at her (from a diff enemy) but failed to dodge the other. Her body was easily sent flying by the attack and crumbled back down on the ground 15ft away...
(Yuuta dodged the attack against him easily without guard; Katsurou's opponent is dazed; and the blue facing Terasaka seems hesitant to step forward to attack... he seems to be readying an attack to disrupt yours...)

Another arrow soared in from behind, which struck the dazed red's torso with a direct hit... (still standing). You could also heard the reinforcement warriors, at least half a dozen, charging up from just behind you all (within a round's distance away)...

(next up: Dave, Judson)

Terasaka's strike nails the leg of the blue oni closest to him, the tremendous power behind the halberd blade sent it cleaving through both legs. The enemy collapsed onto the ground in three separate pieces, with the main arteries still spraying blood all over (a good amount on Terasaka himself); not even its eyeballs have moved a bit since...

Yuuta successfully sends another slash into the blue oni in front of him; the enemy was now seriously injured and bleeding profusing, but still very much up for a fight.

[ Drew: you're next ]
[ enemies remaining: one remaining Red facing Katsurou;3 Blues on left wing (vs. Yuuta, an Independent, and Terasaka); 4 Blues on right wing (vs. three other Blackhearts: Daichi, Daisuke, Kasumi) ]

Up and down the line, the members of Group B swung out at the enemies; all but 1 of them hit to pile on some additional injuries. But the enemy was too tough, and many of them weren't even close to being taken down... then they counterattacked. Most of the allies successfully blocked the attacks, but as the third blue oni of the left flank (who dropped his opposition last round) turned and ganged up on the independent fighting at Terasaka's left side, the man failed to block two enemy attacks in a row and was sent hurling back before landing on the ground in a crumbled and motionless state. The two blue then turned to face Terasaka, albeit a bit hesitantly as their eyes shifted between him and the two fallen reds near him...

Two arrows then soaring in from far behind. One of them shot past and missed one of the blues facing Terasaka. The other went straight into the red opposing Katsurou and buried itself inbetween the red's ribs...

Terasaka's counter struck a direct hit and disrupted the red's attack so much one might think it was trying to punch some invisible foe 5ft away. His following attack then cut into the red's lower body and unbalanced it; just as the enemy was about to topple to the ground, Terasaka's third swing cut deeply into its tough left arm, nearing severing it, and hurling it back 15ft to land hard onto the ground--- leaving a completely still red oni, bleeding profusely~

(your 9AP/round is insane Judson :P <-- tempted to nerf your curse)

One of the two remaining Reds launched a powerful strike against Katsurou, which he manages to block but attempts to hold against (Drew: Guard check; EDIT: succeeded). The other steps over into the location of its fallen comrade and makes a similar attack against Terasaka (Judson: I'd recommend AP-boosting your AC or this is just barely going to hit you)...

The entire line of Group B then retaliated against their respective opponents with their heaviest attack; only Kasumi, who went to intercept the flanker on the right, and one of the new guys missed, although the rest of the strikes still only managed to inflict relatively light injuries on the enemies due to their sheer toughness.

The blues then launched their counterattack. Most of the Group B line managed to successfully block their attacks, and Yuuta on the far left and Kasumi on the far right managed to dodge the strikes altogether. However, one of the newcomer/independents (the center of the three) had failed to block his enemy's attack and was dealt a powerful punch that hurled him back 15ft--- he landed on the ground and didn't get back up, either knocked out or killed altogether.

More shouting was heard in the camp behind you as it seems groups of warriors who had been resting were gathering...
