Epicette casts (CL12), giving her full knowledge of the local geography for 6 miles around, assessing the locale (for potential locations of interest, natural resources, etc) as well as helping pick the best position to set up camp.

At the campsite spot they pick, she casts , creating a sturdy stone cottage with Arcane Locked/Alarm warded entrances, an Unseen Servant to provide services, and an illusory camouflage that makes it blend into the local terrain.

She then spends several hours carefully digging out her mother's skeleton from the sarcophagus, dumping out its tainted soil, treating the remains with a flask of holy water, and putting it back on a thin layer of fresh soil (just to hold everything in place).

Cernandlon's arrow thunks solidly into the Bodak, with a wave of psionic energy rippling over the creature as it falls to the ground at Epicette's feet, and starts to disintegrate like the other dead Bodak. (Know: Religion tells you guys this is normal reaction when a Bodak dies, this is already assumed success).


Loot: On the Nabasu you find a +2 Battleaxe.

Jestak still seems to be bleeding from the Grub burrowing through her arm, and has taken CON damage.

Aravashnial, hoping to take advantage of the flaming area, casts Grease on the Grub Swarm. The grubs miraculously manage to avoid the grease directly (nat 20) but the burning damage from the squares does increase as the grease ignites.

Millorn continues to sneeze fire at them, which the grubs mostly dodge again (Another Nat 20 O_o) before backing away from the creatures.

Jestak circles around the remaining Bodak, trying to follow Daveed's defensive lead and employ some tactics against the remaining enemy. She hits for a solid 15 damage. Daveed and Malorix notice that her will is back in the fight, though she seems to be trying to keep her rage in check, and fight intelligently. She also takes more Con damage as the grub tears deep cuts into her arm.

The grubs take 16 points of fire damage from being in the burning squares. They then launch themselves at Millorn, but the dwarf is luckily able to avoid taking any damage this turn.

B2 is looking pretty wounded
Grub Swarm seems to have lost some of it's number, but is still a threat. Note: grubs are Fine and thus immune to weapon damage.

Jestak, seeing the death of the demon at the hands of Daveed seems encouraged. She doesn't quite have the blood mist yet, but is definitely more into the swing of combat. At Daveed's encouragement, she lands a blow on B1 for moderate damage.

Aravashnial, looking back towards Millorn, takes a 5ft step back and casts Web in the stairwell hoping to catch some of the grubs coming for the dwarf. Through some miracle, Millorn manages to avoid being entangled (nat 20 on reflex save) while the Gubs are only slowed a bit (made the save exactly).

Millorn, seeing the grub swam continuing through the webs, reaches into a pocket, pulls out a small vial, opens it, snorts some of the black powder inside... and begins violently sneezing flames at the grubs. The grubs and surrounding web light on fire, but the grubs manage to resist being blown back by the force of Millorn's mighty gouts of flame.

The nabassu lies dead.

Jestak takes 2 more solid swings at B1 after 5ft stepping to get a better angle, but the tough hide of the undead creature deflects her blade both times.

The grubs manage to move 5ft closer before being entangled by the burning webs.

Henric, Cernandlon, and Epicette are up.

The Swarm seems to have lucked avoid some of the damage from the acid ball as the grubs were bunched up falling over each other down the stairs, causing only the outer shell to succumb to Henric's acid. (made the save. still took 50% extra from being a swarm. Took 32)

B1 charges Jestak, slugging her with a fist for 4 damage (after DR). However, with the strike comes one of the Grubs. Jestak tries to avoid it, but can't move far enough away and the grub starts burrowing into her arm, causing heavy bleeding (CON damage)

B2 steps back from Daveed and glares at him (Fort save vs [Death])

Daveed and Malorix are up.

Aravashnial chants a few quick words as he rushes forward, and two spears of ice jut up from the ground beneath the demon and B1. B1 seems to take some of the ice damage, but both manage to avoid being knocked prone. The cones of solid ice remain just behind them, blocking the doorway.

Millorn casts as well, and his form goes blurry.

The Nabassu flies up to Jestak, calling "What treachery is this? You forget who you serve!" and reaches out with a claw at the barbarian. The claws glow red as they dig into the woman's arm, seeming to reinvigorate the demon. Jestak takes 16 damage (still look relatively fine).

She then glances at Daveed, a moment of doubt washing over her. She manages to make a half-hearted attack, but she definitely doesn't have the fury that she attacked you with. She manages to land her strike dealing 10 damage.

As the battle starts to gain momentum, Millorn then calls out to the group, "Uh, guys, those grubs from upstairs are coming after us!"

Henric, Cernandlon, and Epicette are up.

Henric misses both Bodaks but manages to hit and break through the Nabasu's SR. There is still some Acid Resist that he has to battle through.

Cernandlon's arrow hits and the demon hisses in pain as it bypasses the creature's damage reduction.

Epicette's hair wrap around B1 but doesn't seem to be strong enough to do any real damage. As the hair wraps around, she notices large maggots wriggling across the creature's skin, threatening to transfer into her hair.

B1 realizes that the hair has a pretty good hold of him, so settles with just staring hard at Epicette, daring her to keep the hair wrapped around him. (No Will save as you are out of range) Epicette is pretty sure if she doesn't release him in the next 2-3 turns, she will have to make a Reflex save to remain Grub free.

B2 charges Daveed, and attempts to slam him with an infested arm. The fist bounces off of Daveed's shield, sending a shudder down his arm (No damage, attack did not beat AC). One of the grubs leaps off and tries to find purchase on Daveed (Reflex save)

Daveed and Malorix are up.

B1 is grappled but unharmed
B2 is unharmed
N is wounded but above half

The door opens, and in steps 2 emaciated humanoid creatures with dried skin and empty eye sockets that trail smoke, and one winged demon that you identify immediately as a Nabasu from your prior experience. Epicette's hex fires out at the first creature through the doors (B1).

The familiar hasn't had any response to whatever has been draining it's life, but you also don't "expect" another pulse for at least 10 to 15 minutes based on the previous timings. It seems to be conserving it's strength and just focusing on breathing for now.

The room is about 100ft deep, and 50ft across. There is a door to the right of the entrance, and at the end of the room there is one door leading right and one leading left.

Looking at the Library, you aren't able to get much. The bookshelves look like they are still standing, though dusty and full of cobwebs. still a few books on the shelves, but generally in disarray and weathered. You're not able to see anything below about chest height based on the window placements without getting closer.

Looking in the School, the building looks even more empty. You think you might be able to make out a teacher's desk/table, and a few chairs seem to be put on top of some of the desks. You can't see anything below about waist height without getting closer.

None of the buildings look like they have any creatures in them aside from the insects flirting about.

The magic is more a residual marker than an active spell. Like what you would expect to see in a wizarding classroom that's had the wards removed.

(can we see anything in these buildings? I assume these have been abandoned for decades so the windows should be broken at least... )

The library and schoolhouse have a faint lingering trace of magic that you can barely detect with your cantrips and senses. Like some long lasting spell had been cast in each of those buildings, or possibly many many shorter duration spells over the years, you can't quite tell. But there does still seem to be a faint magical aura inside both of those buildings. Cernandlon's keen eyes also notice the first signs of life in the area, spotting a few moths and other insects flying scattered around the church. The insects are not in anything you would call a swarm, just one here, one there. If you had to estimate you spot somewhere around 20-40 around the grounds of the 2 story church.

There is a faint smell of rot hanging in the air in the town as you make your way slowly towards the next segment of town you go to investigate. Peering from behind one of the houses, this square seems to have a library, a church, a schoolhouse, space for food carts, a stable, and an inn. All of the buildings look very weathered and the inn and smithy's signs sit half buried in the dirt, having fallen from their chains long ago.

Everyone make perception checks.

About 30 mins normal ride (at normal pace, not the breakneck one you've been doing) is what appears to be a small ghost town, apparently abandoned after the Second Crusade. There hasn't been any sign of demons coming or going, and the town has been eerily quiet. Once today, one of the scouts saw a few hellhounds wandering to the north, but they turned and wandered off without any interaction with the scouts. The one who saw them couldn't tell if they were avoiding the town, or if they just naturally went another direction.

It is around 5 in the afternoon, you estimate another 1-2 hours of daylight. What do you do?
