Sorala d'Ghallandar was only happy to receive some help, and Leah's eagerness and diligence rather impressed her. (+11 Attitude)

Aida was quite cute, gentle and kind too; it's certainly obvious why she has a reputation for being 'too good for the place'. She seem constantly mobbed by sailors and locals who wants a gentle voice or moment of comfort. Leah only got to chat with her a few times, but on each occasion she seems glad to receive Leah's kind attention (+11 attitude).

Koko:
Koko actually found Lysette cooking, experimenting with spices as she prepared curry for the store helpers. The two of them chatted about various things while tasting the food, and overall had a pretty good time (+5 attitude).

Ahz was lucky. Aida was indeed available for a while, and she patiently listened to his issue. She humbly professes that she's no expert on the warforged, but it doesn't take an expert on the dragonmarked to realize that Tharashk has its branches. The bounty hunting has gotten on the wrong side of many, but most warforged were happy to work for the prospecting and mining groups -- as long as they don't ask too much. Perhaps the trick is to make sure one doesn't seem too interested in whom they are in the past and focus more on what they're like in the present. (Ahz receives Aida's diplomacy bonus on the next pertinent diplomacy attempt)

She finally closes her fingers around the Valenar artifact and tucks it away.

"I'll send a message to the Prince's representatives first to discuss this. Some of my countrymen here may not like this, but surely using this to benefit the people of New Cyre is in the interests of all Cyrans. We don't really have anyone good at stately affairs here, otherwise," she lowers her voice: "Dannel's Wrath would never have gotten so radical either."

She cleared her throat before continuing, keen to hide her vocal disapproval of the organization that the rest of Stormreach now view as a terrorist band.

"But if the Prince agrees, I think your second proposal -- fabricating a story and all -- will probably earn us more bargaining points."

Lucille then surveys the rest of the goods.

"Well... while I wish the axe of our hero came back as well, I guess we should be grateful for what we can get," she spoke before opening up her purse and pulling out a bag of coins. "Here is your payment in full, though I expect that any information you discover as part of the axe won't have gold attached, since that really is part of this job."

"Also, thank you for the suggestion on the amulet," she smiles.

"Well, we found four out of the five artefacts," Ahz says, motioning to the table, banner, and the model of the city of Metrol (in a bag sitting on the table), "but the axe wasn't anywhere to be found in the tunnels. We're looking into a few other leads at the moment, but going by what we found down there the kobolds had bartered it off to another group, possibly sahuagin."

Pulling the Zaelshin out of his pocket, he holds it well away from Lucille, just in case the merchant made an attempt to lunge for it before Ahz had a chance to speak his mind. "As for this fourth piece, I can't really speak about Cyran attitudes towards Valenar since I'm a Marcher. As a historian, however, I know the facts of both the Valenar rebellion and the events that took place after the Mourning, so I can understand why you'd see this as an important sign of victory over the Valaes Tairn. But as a Marcher, I can understand the Valenar obsession with family bonds, and the lengths to which they would go to to recover something of family significance. What you have here, friend, is a dangerous piece of history, one which would honestly serve your people better as a diplomatic bargaining tool than as a prize of war. Prince Oargev's diplomacy has been slow primarily because he lacks any actual bargaining power - and this right here is bargaining power. So, I have a few ideas for you on how you could use this to your advantage: One, the direct route - you reach out to Prince Oargev yourself and explain that you have the artefact and would like to use it to help the Cyran people. Two, the more...discrete route - we fabricate a story about how you had heard about the Zaelshin being lost and had us retrieve it for the purpose of handing it back to the Valenar via Prince Oargev. Both options net you a certain amount of personal prestige if this pans out into gains for the Cyran people, and the second option protects you from any possible reprisal from the Valenar for holding on to the item for so long. Option three: go independent. If the Cyrans here in Stormreach truly do believe that Prince Oargev is moving too slowly, then why not act on your own? And I don't mean like Dannel's Wrath, their activities of late are only serving to destabilize Stormreach and aren't helping the cause of the Cyrans at all. Maybe you and your friends could make an outreach to Valenar by returning this to them."

Having had his say, Ahz hands the Zaelshin over to Lucille, adding him "Anyway, the item has been retrieved, and the choice of what you do with it is your choice. As for the axe, we'll keep you in the loop as to what we find regarding the other leads."

It takes the remaining party members the rest of the night to sort through the items and organize them for the trip back up (some disassembly required for the furniture). Since an agreement was reached to conceal the kids' hideout, the goods had to be taken up the long way, through the winding tunnels. Cadroc and the rest did help by pushing items halfway up the tunnel to hide their involvement. However, this process would still take up the entire next day and leave the party members exhausted. The Cyrans provided help on their end by taking over the cargo once it arrived above ground, and by sorting out the contents.

Lucille, the merchant and customer for this mission, informs everyone that most of the reported goods had been recovered, apart from some food parcels and some missing chinaware. They also found a lot of dents on the recovered furniture, including some that looks suspiciously like bite marks of some kind -- possibly kobold?

But most anxiously, he await information from the party on the cultural relics, alongside any other results of cleaning out this crime wave.

( This takes up all time on the night of February 3 and all of February 4; since Adoette has no way to effectively help out in the tunnels, he does have the day time slots of Feb.4 open if he wants to do something )

Vice returns after some time with bad news: "She's gone! Like, just vanished! The people at the entrance didn't even see her leave! But we've searched all over the base and can't find her."

"Well she did expect the intruders to kill us all," Cadroc counters, though hints of disillusionment and annoyance could be heard through his tone. Clearly even he felt a little betrayed by her simply abandoning like that.

It did not take long before Ahz figured out what's wrong: there's no sign of the axe once wielded by the Cyran hero.

The other four cultural relics are all present:
-- an ornate mahogany table that once belonged to a Cyran Marshal and war hero
-- a regimental military banner that radiants Consecrate; apparently seen combat action against the Karrns
-- a number of pieces that, when put together, forms a model of the city Metrol several centuries ago; perhaps some adventurer group raided a museum in the Mournelands.
-- a Zaelshin Tu... they said it was just 'an amulet that marks our greatest victory against the elves', but this is clearly a Valenar sacred item.

So much for relics of 'little functional value'.

There might be other missing goods as well, but it'll hours more time to sort though all the things.

Everyone who is helping, make three Perception checks (searching) to begin sorting it all out. Detect Magic and the likes would probably be useful to pinpoint where the artifacts are.

He lead you all into the next chamber, it's ceiling just as short and its ground covered with tattered blankets that the children were using as food tables. But at the moment, most of the dirt-covered kids were hiding in fear, while only the few armed braves who followed Cadroc tailed the party from behind.

"I also agree that we should have a story to tell those up there, but..." he hesitates, troubled by the predicament this whole situation put him in. "I had hoped that if we waited a while this would just blow over, then we can quietly restore the things we took. But you see... many of the kids in our group are also Cyrans -- some with parents, others without -- and the last thing I'd want is for them to be ostracized by their own people."

The next room was a messy makeshift kitchen of sorts, and some of you could smell the mold from the foods that they failed to clean up properly. Behind that was the pitch black storage room. An assortment of items filled its space, most of them haphazardly piled together with no noticeable order.

It might take you some time to search through everything (so use what tricks you can =P)

He places a hand over the gash in the boy's side and wills it to close. Another one of the leaves on his head wilts, shrivels and falls off as Dr. Goodberry lets out a slightly pained gasp. He ends the round by focusing on his collective and verifying that everyone is healthy.

Leah turns from the downed, but still breathing boy and starts moving towards the gnome girl. She fixes her eyes on the children's leader's as she throws her rapier into the air and far away. She would kill them no longer, but some things a professional could not let go.

"We want to talk, if you'd let us," Leah says to the leader as she moves intentionally right past him like it is the most natural thing in the world. She never lets her eyes slip from his, telling him through them that she wouldn't kill anyone. If the rapier sailing through the air wasn't signal enough.

Leah finally arrives in front of the gnome girl, and gives her a resounding slap.

[Unarmed Attack: 1d20 + 7 = 20. 1d3 = 1 non-lethal damage]

He then moves to the side and away from the tunnel's view.

Leah takes 5 points of fire damage for when she moved through that fire. (readjusted her position so she's still next to kid2; action hasn't resolved yet...)

As Gadget emerges from the tunnel in chase of the gnome, he sees three more kids: a half-orc and another human child (both carrying firewood and the like) towards the east who clearly look frightened and unsure of what to do, plus another human child atop the stairs who is notching an arrow onto a shortbow.

Seeing the tiniest of the company bulldoze right past the enemies to chase his mark makes Leah smile. But she had been waiting for the way to open up for her, so the moment Gadget opens the opening, she hurries (hurriedly crawls) forward into the room, to the side of the human child directly in front of the tunnel opening. Finally having some room to move, she fluidly draws her rapier and stabs at thethe child in front of her.

[Attack 1d20 + 7 + 2 Invis = 21. Damage: 1d6 Rapier + 2d6 Sneak = 4 + 8 = 12]

Feeling her invisibility fade, Leah shouts at the children:

"Stand down or we will take you down!"

Leah silently regrets not asking Koko for the name she used when going undercover. It might have helped convincing the children. Or confirmed whether she knew them, at least. Oh, well, humans could be surprisingly tough, one poke wouldn't kill them. Or would it?

Everyone behind Goodberry moves up in the cramped tunnel (now piled up behind Ashkaran)

Gadget shoots the gnome girl just as she fires another shot from the magic missile wand. The disruption ray left a nasty wound across her shoulders, though based on the reduced effect you're fairly sure she's not a human kid in disguise.

Two more magic missiles slam into Ashkaran again for 8 more force damage.

The gnome girl scampers back from the now-visible warforged scout, pulling out a scroll with her other hand at the same time.

Since Leah delayed after Gadget it's her turn again. Also up: Ashkaran.

Initiative order changes to the following as a result of all the delayed actions:
Goodberry(21) -> Gadget(16) -> Ahz(12) -> Koko(11) -> Leah(10) -> Adoett(10) -> Ashkaran(10)

Opening actions:
Gadget leaps out from the tunnel and slams into the about-to-close grate. The warforged scout may be small, but his iron and composite body crashed the grate open with enough force that it knocks the boy onto the ground.

The 2nd kid tosses in his XL bottle of oil, splashing onto the spot where Gadget used to be.
The gnome girl extends out her wand and fires two Magic Missiles into the darkness, striking Ashkaran for 5 points of damage.

Goodberry, Leah, Gadget, Koko, Adoett, and Ahz, go! (only Ashkaran rolled too low compared to foes)
